Korean Press-on Cheek & Eyemake Set

I first read about this amazing Cheek & Eyemake press-on makeup set from this blog: http://yuk-lui.blogspot.com and was so amazed and by it that I just had to blog about it.

I'm sure you've all heard about instant eyesadows before, it seems that Avon & L'oreal have produced their own versions of it. However, the Grandma of press on eyeshadow was called eye majic and was featured ages ago in Oprah Winfrey's show. Well in case you haven't or if you need a refresher, it looked like this:

It was simply 2 sponge applicators on a tray with the eyeshadow nicely stuck on it. All you had to do was position it nicely on your eyelid and then press it down for a couple of seconds and presto! nicely done eyeshadow! I remember using it back when my local Sasa sold it and my mom went nuts and bought lots of it for her "lazy" days. It was kindda pricey though, so I stopped purchasing it after awhile and it slowly disappeared off the shelves.

I remember thinking to myself, "if only it could be used more then once, what a great way to apply shadow for lazy people or people learning to apply makeup for the first time!" Well, it seems that a korean brand, Chosungah Luna, had the same ideas and have produced their own version that is reusable AND it pushes the boundaries further by including a highlighter and blush version too!

This is how the set is supposed to look like. It comes with 2 shadows, a blush and highlighter combination and 3 sponge applicators.

The different sponge applicators for each of the shadows

The 2 options that are available so far. I'm liking the shadows for both sets so far but I'm not quite sure about the blush and highlighter combination. I especially like how they offer one neutral eyeshadow and one heavier style.

It seems fairly easy to use, just dip the sponge applicator on the shadow, making sure to press down on both sides to pick up the shadow evenly, and then I guess you'll just press it onto your eyelid.

I'm loving this idea alot and am seriously considering asking my friend who's visitng Korea next month, to try and get a palette for me to try it out. However, the main thing that is holding me back is the cheek print. I always figured that the application of blush and highlighter was a rather personal thing, as you had to learn what was best for contouring your face since no face is ever alike and different bone structures requires different areas of focus.

However, it is tempting me alot as I'm trying to imagine the possibilities of it cutting down the time spent on my eye makeup and no longer having to fret at finding the different shadows to mix around and fiddling with a makeup brush when I am trying to rush out the door.

Oh well, I have bout a week or 2 to decide if I wanna bug my friend to find it in Korea for me. If I do get it, you can be sure to expect a review of it!

Ageha's Rin Makeup Line: Ange Rin Doll!

The youtube video showing the range of products in the Ange Rin Doll line. It features a detailed breakdown of the use of the products, Rin participating in the production of the products and a selection of normal Japanese girls trying out the products.

The full line of Ange Rin Doll products that's available so far

It seems like most gyaru models follow the usual money-making route of first getting a modelling gig on a famous magazine followed by being the face of numerous products and then finally jumping on the gravy chain of creating a line of self-branded makeup.

The model this time is Rin from Koakkuma Ageha magazine and also known as the face of gyaru brand, Tralala. But to differ from her competitors who have pushed out numerous fake lashes, lipglosses and blush, Rin smartly deviates her products slightly but still pushes out products that gals everywhere would love.

Her line named, Ange Rin Doll, consists of the ubiquitous fake lashes, a tube of lip gloss in what appears to be a nude shade, 2 brow mascaras, 2 liquid eyeliners, a carbon paper with "lifting" properties and a set of 'power pierce' gems.

From what I can tell from the advertisement, the carbon paper helps to slim down and 'lift' the face to create the desired "V" shape from the cheek down that most models seem to have. I've also seen the 'power pierce' gems at work before when Momoeri was sponsored by a salon to do an advert in her blog, its supposedly able to help slim down the face by using electrons or crystal energy or something to reduce puffiness and water retention to slim down the face. I don't wholeheartedly believe that these products would work, especially since Japan is famous for coming up with the craziest beauty gadgets that don't always work, but if it's not priced too highly, I might just give it a shot.

The liquid eyeliner in a pen form might be useful to drawing the underside of my upper eyelid as Rin demonstrated in the video, if it's not too watery that is. On the otherhand, the other products don't interest me in the least bit, the lashes look similar to other designs by Diamond Lash or Eyemazing, the lipgloss shade looks bit generic and the eyebrow mascaras look eerily similar to Kate's version.

I'm pretty surprised that Rin hasn't mentioned anything about her new line of products in her blog, so I'm just waiting to see if she's gonna rope in Ageha to help promote her products just like what Sakurina did for her lash line. But so far, the products are only available via a Japanese TV shopping channel, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see if the products do well.

Candydoll's New Mascara & Eyeshadow Line

Tsubasa Masuwaka, the ever-savvy model/ businesswoman has expanded her makeup empire again. This time with 2 different type of mascaras and various eveshadow palettes. At this rate, what else could she offer next? Perhaps some concealer, foundation or even a whole skincare line? Who knows what else she might just add into her ever-growing makeup empire...

There are 2 types of mascara that will be available, the lengthening and the volumnizing. Smart move to cover both bases, but I think I'll skip this product since I wear falsies most of the time...

According to Koji, there'll be four different palettes of four-colour eyeshadows. My guess is that it'll be in a palette like Boujour and Kate with varying colours of the same palette. There' is also some mention of "cream eyeshadow" and "champagne" somewhere around in the website, I don't really get it, perhaps a creameyeshadow in the colour of champagne?

Working hard at looking pretty for her new promotional campaign! Don't we all wish we could be paid to look just as pretty?

Inspecting the photos, I've heard that Tsubasa is pretty hands-on in her brand and in the previous nail polish collection, she wasn't happy with the samples given to her and mixed up her own colours with the samples given! Goes to show how hardworking and dedicated she is!
I'm not sure if I'll be falling over myself to try and get my hands on her eyeshadow palettes, especially when I'm pretty happy with my current Dior and Kate ones. However, if the price is right, as in not alot more expensive then my Kate palettes, I might just give it a shot. After all, it's always nice to pull out something pretty and unique whilst touching up one's makeup in public right?
But I'll still wait for public opinion about her how good her eyeshadow is. Up to now, I still refuse to buy her candydoll blush because I've heard really negative things about the application, so I'll see how I guess!

In bout 2 days time, the 11th Japan fashion week will be rounding up its shows, parties and exclusive events. Tokyo Girls' Collection 2010 A/W Pt. 8 (Highlight Stage)

Last post on the TGC event and the one I was most excited about! These are the 2 brands who had their debut during th TGC event, so a pretty good way to gain exposure. Who knows, in the near future we may just see their names and clothes being splashed across various magazines, so Id keep an eye out for them!

I am ooh lala love with this brand! Lovedrose totally breaks typical Japanese brand fashion by choosing the elegant equestrian style for inspiration and instead of doing the usual bowler hats and fedoras this season, they chose to do the top hat instead! Lovedrose may well be a rule-breaking brand, but done with pizzazz and class but not boring-ly so... I'll be keeping my eye for this one..

AG by Aquagirl does more basic causal pices that merry comfort with style with loose flowy tops/dresses, I can see the mori gal influence there. The mother-child outfit combo is so adorable and the entire outfit in the second pic from the right is the result of the AG by Aquagirl X TGC collaboration. A nice outfit that is casual comfy, but not short on style

Finally, gotten eveyrthing up, hopefully I haven't disappointed anyone by not uploading everything immediately, and omg I totally forgot to mention this earlier, you can click on the pictures to see them in a larger size! It's actually better if you look at the details closely, I swear.
The giveaway is closed now, so I'll be announcing the winner soon okay?
Ugh just gimme awhile to recuperate, the photoshoot from the day before totally drained out all energy from me, imagine being in charge of wardrobe, makeup, photography direction etc. for 2 PVs for a whole 10 hours. It's not easy and extremely tiring, I can't imagine being the cosplayer, but it'll be my turn soon... hopefully it'll be less work... cross my fingers!

Tokyo Girls' Collection 2010 A/W Pt. 6 (Natural Casual Stage)

Both brands for the Natural Casual stage had red indian theme going on, with the feathers and such, seems more like S/S kindda style then A/W.

The model in the blue dress in the first pic IS a guy, but looks pretty good IMHO hahahahh! The only more wintery items I could find were capes and the fur coat from mystic

Heather had some cool travel looks going on, if only I could looks that good whilst travelling instead of a frizzy, swollen eyed mess. I predict the next things that are gonna take over the usamimi are the fur "ears" on a hooded coat or pointed, furry "ears" not shown here. The entire outfit sans the neckalce, gloves, shoes and socks in the first pic on the right is the product of the TGC X Hetaher collaboration

Nothing much new with these brands, but perhaps they're marching to the beat of their own drum.. so ther'es no reason to keep up with the trends then.

Tokyo Girls' Collection 2010 A/W Pt. 5 (Select Stage)

My laptop is acting up again, so quick posts on the remaining stages of the TGC A/W 2010 show okays?

Topshop had models with really fierce eyes and stained red lips sent down the runway. They chose to stick to their British style instead of adpating to whatever's popular in Japan, hence the not-so copy-cat lookalike looks.

Free's Mart celebrated thier anniversary recently and from the casual cool clothes that they have in their collection, I won't be suprised to see many more celebrations in the future. TGC X Free's Mart collaboration created the long plaid dress/coat with fur vest on the first pic on the right

Beams too was casual cool, loving the outfit in the second pic from the left, so Mori gal-esque! The white dress and fur vest in the first outfit from the right is a TGC X Beams collaboration creation, love the tiffany blue pillbox hat, gives it a touch of vintage

Another Edition was vintage glam but up-to-date all the same, the fur trimmed hodded cape is sooo gorgeous! I want one! An idol (can't remember her name) modelled the TGC X Another Edition dress that comes with a furry neck warmer with fur gloves attached!

On to the Natural Casual stage....

Tokyo Girls' Collection 2010 A/W Pt. 4 (Elegance Stage)

Last stage for today guys, I'm totally spent from spending all day choosing and slowly editing all the pictures. This one is the Elegance Stage and true to it's name, the outfits were all elegant and classy-looking, something I can imagine the rich housewives of Japan donning when they step out for tea and shopping.

31 Sons de Mode had a very muted colour palette which they kept throughout their collection, but it was far from boring. Over the knee boots and thigh high socks kept the looks from being staid and boring. The fedora and polka-dotted dress on the first picture on the right are from the TGC X 31 Sons de Mode collaboration.

Initally when I saw all the white floral outfits that L'est Rose had sent down the runway, I was thinking "oh no, not another Liz Lisa-ish floral crazy brand", but the Chanel reminiscent tweed outfits that came after roused my interest in the brand and my personal favourite is the second outfit from the left. Some of the models had teddy bears matching their outfits, very cute! I'm loving the L'est Rose X TGC collaboration item too, the floral dress with the attached vest on the first picture on the right is sweet but not sickeningly so as the red over-the-knee boots toughen it up abit.

I highly suspect Apuweiser Riche had a very fashionably elegant schoolgirl in mind when they designed this collection. Cardigans, plaid skirts and thigh high socks were aplenty but not juvenile in anyway, I bet Blair from Gossip Girl would approve! The ribbon cape and sweet floral dress are TGC X Apuweiser Riche collaboration items, kindda mori girl influenced I think. Not to mention, Apuweiser Riche just opened their new store in Marui City Shibuya 4F!

I'll continue again tomorrow if not the day after with the rest of the TGC 2010 A/W show, there's still so much more pictures for me to slowly sift through, select and put together so be patient okay?

Be back ASAP!

Tokyo Girls' Collection 2010 A/W Pt. 4 (Designer's Stage)

The Designer's Stage showcased 4 different brands. The designs they sent down were catered for the older crowd, with serious, classic pieces that had a little twist here and there unlike the previous trend-led pieces of the Trend Stage. The models were also slightly more mature looking and there were a number of foreign/mixed-blooded models.

Mecuryduo had most of their models wearing a sun hats and wrist gloves, very lady-like. Hair was left long with soft curls, overall a very elegant, lady-to-lunch kindda effect. The first picture on the right showcased the coat and floral dress that was the result of the TGC X Mecuryduo collaboration.

Smork adored scarves and alot of dresses had prints or an actual scarf draped down. Love the cute couple outfit with plaid to tie them both together. TGC X Smork collaborated to produce the sweater dress and nordic leggings on the first picture on the right.

Blondy was very lady-like with ruffles, lace and floral added into most of their outfits. TGC X blondy's collaboration produced the very snuggly-looking red knit dress worn by the model on the first picture from the right.

Snidel parian chic with lots of elegant flared skirts and well-cut trousers, they had a large amount of outfits that they sent don the runway and most if not all the models were halfs or foreign ones. Their outfits look so well-cut and styled that they could probably do pretty decent on an international level. TGC X Snidel created the cute sweater, flared skirt and orange hosiery outfit, that's an outfit I don't mind having in my wardrobe!
I'm loving the pieces put out by the brands in the Designer's stage. They were mostly classic pices with a twist that could be worn for years to come. With this, I'm really looking forward to the other Stages!

Tokyo Girls' Collection 2010 A/W Pt. 3 (Partner Stage)

There were 2 brands on the Partner stage, my guess is that they were major sponsors or something for the event, hence labelled as "Partner".

First was GOTTO3, lots of bustiers, damaged jeggings and skin. Added in a cute factor by bringing the little girl with matching attire

Second Partner was Aoyama Suit Collection, something for Office ladies and gents in the crowd. The men looked spiffy in their suits and tie, but I think the women could do better with some colour or jewellry.

Next up is the Designer's Stage! So stay tuned for more!

Tokyo Girls' Collection 2010 A/W Pt. 2 (Trend Stage)

The first brands to walk down the runway of the TGC 2010 A/W event were Miasion Gilfy, muse muse by ROYAL PARTY, Liz Lisa and Cecil Mcbee. These were grouped under the trend stage and showed off their latest stuffs that are hip and trendy and up-to-date.

Maison Gilfy went down first and opened with Anna Tsuchiya (above left), the other 2 pics was part of their collection. Love the leopard coat! Its a TGC X Maison Gilfy collaboration special!

Next was muse muse by ROYAL PARTY, they upped the celebrity factor by sending Tsubasa down. They also added colour and a fun factor by having the models sashay down the runway with balloons, flag and oversized shopping bags. The third picture from the left, the furry beret, vest, high waist shorts and lace thigh highs are TGC X muse muse by ROYAL PARTY collaboration items.

Liz Lisa showed their signature floral touch, but and chose to remain with a white background but added furs to winter-ize. The fur/floral cape is simple adorable! The ribbon socks on the first picture on the right can be yours by simple buying the Liz Lisa mook!

Cecil Mcbee was last on the trend stage, showed some plaid, floral, furs, one-pieces etc. pretty diverse selection of trend-led items. The leopard jacket and damaged jeggings on the second picture from the right are TGC X Cecil Mcbee collaboration items.

There are still a number of stages left so I'll try to upload them up as fast as possible kays? So come back for more!

Autumn/ Winter Boots Trends by Sweet Vol. 9

I'll be listing out Sweet's version of their section on boots trends, from this article, it actually show's the difference in the target audience of both Sweet and Edge*s magazines. Like for example Edge*s focus was mostly on thigh highs, as mostly it's the hip and trendy crowd that read that magazine, unlike Sweet which focuses more on short, ankle boots instead so as to cater to the office ladies. Whatever the category one may fall into, it's still nice to observe different takes on the same trend.
So here's Sweet's take on the boots trend:
Ankle Fur Boots: Trimming Fur & Uncle Fur
The trimming fur seems to be the sifter, more suede-like, softer kindda fur and is only a slight trin on the edge of the boot, whereas the "uncle" fur (whatever that means), seems to be the kind that has thicker bunches of fur
Fur boots: All Fur & Leg Fur
I detest the all fur boot, it makes me think that someone was a fan of the abdominable snowman hence the design. The leg fur appears to be more like a furry version fo the leg warmer over a pair of boots, so that i can still tolerate.
Lace -up Short Boots
The lace-ups again, this seems to be on boots trend that Sweet and Edge*s seems to agree on. I am not a fan however, of the rubber sole, too worker boots-esque for me.
Pin-heel Boots
Very elegant looking, a definite alternative to pumps, these would look nice with a dressy pair of pants
Wedged Boots: Rubber, Wrapped & Wood
The rubber wedges would definitely be long lasting, however personally, I think rubber wedges look bit juvenile and tacky, but that's just me. The wrapped versions seem okay, but I worry bout getting the heels scuffed up and ending up with missing patches of fabric, but they do look nice especially the leopard print versions. The wooden wedges appeal to me the most, they give an almost rustic charm and look sturdy enough to last for awhile
Buckled Boots & Boots Accessories
I love buckles on boots, they instantly give it a different look and toughens up one's image, the one in light brown suded reminds me a whole lot of Vivienne Westwood's slouchy pirate boots, this is probably it's more uptight cousin. The boots accessories are cute, especially the cute pom-poms, a cheap way to jazz up boots from previous seasons without having to raid a bank.

I think Sweet's take on the boots trend isn't as in-depth as it could be, not to mention they seem to have a thing for furry boots. So not my cup of tea, thank you.... I do think the boots accessories was a fabulous, inexpensive way to update a pair of boots, but other then that, the article was kindda like a half-hearted attempt to do attempt a shoes article.

Autmn/Winter Boots Trends by Edge*s Vol. 9

Which girl doesn't love her shoes? A pair can make or break and outfit in an instant so it's only understandable to have the need to constantly add new friends into one's shoes cabinet and one trend is a constant presence in an Autumn/winter wardrobe is none other then boots. Thus I present to you, Edge*s list of boot trends:

Tre sexy Thigh highs
Was popular last year and is back again, I'm planning to add one more pair to my shoe collection
Fur Lined & Lace Up Short Boots
The fur versions aren't really viable in tropical continents (like moi's home country), but the lace ups are bit school girl-ish mixed with a retro vibe, me likey...

Lace Up X Thigh Highs, Peeptoe ankle boots & Peeptoe Wedge boots
The thigh high laceups add an extra oomph to the already sexy style of the boots, but in a good way. Never been much of a fan of peeptoe style shoes but Kumickey seems to love her brown peeptoe wedged boots, she's been seen wearing them like in nearly all her recent pics.

Studded boots, Fur trimmed X Lace ups & Fringe boots
I like studded boots, they give it a military-ish, preppy kindda feel and I currently own a pair. The fur trimmed X laceups remind me of the Timberland shoe brand, could be the tan colouring. The fringe boot has been seen constantly in the last few seasons and doesn't appear to be dying anytime soon.

Other trends:
Straps, camel colour, 2 way etc.
I like the usefulness of the 2 way, you get 2 different styles of boots by simply taking off the fringe/fur, that's a real money-saver and who doens't like to save money? I also like the mary jane-esque black & white boots on d left bottom corner, the one with the red insole, very Christian Louboutin.
I'm definitely getting a new pair of thigh high boots, my current ones aren't as high as I would like them to be as in length-wise and heel height, they end at an odd area of my thigh making me look stumpy, but thansk to them I got abit of practice on matching the right otufits for thigh highs and amde me love the style alot more. I've also been wanting to get a pair of engineer boots for the longest time now, my current ones are a 2 way, with straps they look like engineer boots, without, they look like plain cowboy boots. Useful but I really want something but shorter, not to mention a plain pair of balck ankle boots.
Actually it's pretty funny that I want so many boots, because not many people in my country wear them. But it's their loss, not mine... so screw the stares and negative remarks, I wear it cause I like it! Geddit?!

Autumn/ Winter Trends by Sweet Vol. 9

Today I picked up Sweet magazine whilst runnning a couple of errands. I don't read it regularly as I find their target audience tends to be more of the mature females with a settled career and a steady income, hence explains all the pages of high end brands and adverts for cars geared towards females. However, out of all the magazines I've ever read, I still find Sweet always has the best and most detailed breakdown of trends as they get to pick them right off the runway (not to mention the best freebies too, more or less the main motivational and deciding factor to buy the magazine for me).

So here's Sweet's take on the Autumn/Winter trend breakdown:

Preppy
The schoolgirl innocene is once again in, with suspenders, berets, knee high socks and of course, geeky glasses
Military
But of course this trend has to be included, one must be blind and raving mad to not notice this trend. Shown here with lots of olive green pieces of clothing, gold detailing and boots. (Psst, anyone noticed the Nordic legwarmers?)
Bomber Jacket, Leopard, Poncho, Felt Hat
The bomber jacket reminds me of the movie Top Gun, could be in because lately everything that is old school has been repackaged as Vintage and thus, has risen in popularity (and price too!). The ponchos are really cute and I might just get one, that is if I can find one in a material that won't make me instantly sublimate in Singapore's weather.

Vintage Accessories, Black Lace, Mouton, Fringe, Duffle Coat
My guess is that vintage accessories and black lace are part of this because of the Mode trend that is gaining populairty everywhere. But I'm not complaining, they're both great items to have in your wardrobe at all times, very classic pieces. Mouton is bit juvenile looking for me, maybe becuase I think of children's coats when I see the material, but I like duffle coats, they always remind me of animes based in high schools as there is always at least one of the cast wearing it during the winter scenes.

Knit
Knit everything, from your jackets, to your hairband and even your boots have them. Knit and my skin have very much a love/hate relationship so I don't think I'll be jumping on this trend anytime soon.

Fur
Fur everywhere! From your hairties in your hair, to tippets on your neck, to the coats on your body and even your bag swinging from your arm and the boots shodding your feet have gotta be made of this warm, luxurious material. I love the feel of fur, but I have never worn much of it thanks to my country's weather, but it's not something I would pull my hair out over.

Native American, Nordic, Tartan Check
I was really surprised at this page, I have heard of Nordic flying around everywhere, but no one has yet to notice Native American prints. They might be easier to wear
then Nordic, as the patterns have less juvenile tendencies, but it's easy to go overboard and look like a runaway from a movie or something simply by having one too many feathers or beads. But I still very much prefer it over Nordic. Tartan is still in, which means its not time yet for my flannel shirts to go into storage and I am tempted to recreate the look on the model...
