Recent Clothes, Shoes & Accessories Haul

In my quest to change my wardrobe, I've been doing plenty of shopping lately. I've kind of split my wardrobe into 3 sections so far, office, casual & dress-up. Dress-up is more of my cult party kind of influenced look as it's been the most inspiring to me thus far. Lets take a look at what I got so far:

Patent leather pumps with patent leather and metal ribbon detailing on the front. From Itti & Otto, these shoes weren't cheap at $89.90 but I snagged them at a 15% off sale so only got them for $76++! These are my investment shoes for the office and they've been worth every cent so far, as they're super comfy and look great

Taobao haul consisting of pink streaked wig, creepers, two cross necklaces, circular sunglasses, velvet hair band and velvet choker

Was surprised that the choker has the word "Alice" engraved on it, i had assumed it was gonna be a plain pendant

Also grabbed these Grimoire verum inspired stockings

After searching like crazy, I managed to hunt down this special RinkaXSweet shirt that Rinka had sold to gather funds for the flood victims, I didn't manage to get my hands on it earlier as it sold out almost instantly but now, it's finally in my hands! Though my larger bust size doesn't quite agree with it as much as I would like it to. Also bought a Lowry's Farm pleated maxi skirt

One of my favourite buys, this lovely Jouetie baseball jacket, made with a silky satin material. It's surprisingly warm but fits me so well.

LOL check out the Engrish

After intensively trawling the Internet, I finally got my hands on these babies. The Jeffrey Campbell Skate shoes.

Just look at the amazing wooden carved heel!! I feel like I'm wearing an elegant scupture on my feet and it's more stable then I had expected. I'm trying to convince Steph to get a black pair so that we can be shoe twins!

In case anyone's wondering how the wig looks like, this was the picture shown on the website. It's actually inspired by Amo's pink hair and it reminds me of my old faded pink hair that I love so much

Last but not least, a lace dress that will probably be the main skeleton for my new look and a purple cardigan, both from Cotton On. The dress was on sale from $39.90 to $19.90, score!!

I'm already feeling excited to try out some outfits I have in mind but I'll probably buy a few more accessories to spice things up, I really want a few rosettes and I might get a bag too. Hopefully my new look will go the way I hope it will because I'm starting to feel excited and inspired about fashion once again, a feeling that I thought I had lost awhile back. So hope my dear readers are excited to see my new outfits

Personal Outfit (Hello, Shibuyas Tokyo Fashion Show)

I managed to score 2 invites to the Hello, Shibuya Tokyo private fashion show, so naturally I grabbed Steph to be my plus one for it. The show was held at Red Dot Design Museum and the size was perfect for the event as it wasn't too large, just small and cozy enough but still had enough space for a catwalk and ample leg room for everyone watching. The designers showcased that evening were very avant-garde and incredibly mind-blowing, I'm still replaying that evening's show in my head.
We had wanted to wait for the professional pictures of the show to be released before posting bout it on our respective blogs, but since they're being impossibly slow with it, we decided to just blog it anyway.

The slogan wall to pose at, the photographer took a picture of us but we haven't seen it surface yet.
Took our seats and waited for the show to start

All the beautiful, cool and funky people slowly streaming in

I forgot to bring my camera, so I tried to take shots of the show with my Iphone, but the lights were too glaring and there's only so much a phone camera can capture, so I gave up after a few shots.

The only professional shot that's been released and my favourite brand of the night. I love how the designer used black light to show off the cage dresses

This was also the first show I've been to where the designer was actually present to take a bow after his/her designs had been paraded before us. It felt good to clap enthusiatically to show just how appreciative I was of being able to see their amazing work.

I rushed down to the event after a tiring day of work and having to be part of a work event where we had to schmooze with the bigshots of the company so pardon my terribly tired face and lack of a good outfit, I tried going mode since it's the only style that's appropriate for the office and fashion show.
Shirt: Emoda
Belt: Borrowed from Mom
Skirt: 2nd-hand from Mom
Heels: Charles & keith
Bag: Jimmy Choo

Wore my vintage mechanical men's watch with open face, I love looking at the machinery in a watch
Also wore my new pinky ring from JRunway, not sure what brand is it from but probably Osewaya. I know it's bit hard to see but it looks like 2 hearts entwined together with 2 diamante

Makeup for the evening, I touched up my base and applied my lashes and a darker lipstick on my way to the event LOL

With the ever gorgeous Steph, her red hair is simply WOW!

Shibuya Gals (First Ever Gyaru Meetup)

Mandom Corp. The people behind Tsubasa's Dollywink line and other great beauty and hairstyling products organized the first ever gyaru meet up session last Saturday.

The event was led by nine gyaru senseis who had been chosen to do makeovers on their "students". Fabulous Steph was one of the senseis so I joined the event to support her, and due to some issues, I also winded up as her student to showcase her makeover skills hahaha.

Steph, event organizer Yun Wen, Hana and I posing for a picture before the start of the event. I had to go to the event without my makeup for the makeover so my eyes look really small in this picture :/

Steph doing makeup on me. I'm pretty glad that I became her student for the event as her makeup style is pretty different from mine so it was fun trying out a new style and seeing how different I look as compared to my usual style.

The many people who turned up for the event

After the makeover. Steph used grey eyeshadow on me and stacked 2 Dollywink lashes and glued them above my natural lashline. However the lashes aren't really visible in the pic as the ones mostly available were from the Otome series, so they're geared more towards natural makeup. She also used orange blush & nude lipgloss on me, I haven't used those cosmetics in months!!!

Camwhored with some other gyaru girls at the event. The one the left is Denise aka Cutepetz who was also a gyaru sensei, while the other girl on the right pic is Cammie. They are also both members of the local gyaru circle, Sparkling Cottoncandy and Denise is in fact one of the founders. Funny thing is that all three of us are also cosplayers hahaha.

A lovely picture of the gyaru senseis, isn't it nice to see a variety of gyaru styles all at the same time?

A picture of all the participants of the event

Here's a better look at the outfit I wore for the event, I decided to wear a more rokku style outfit to showcase a different gyaru style as I know most local girls tend to prefer the more floral and hime style.
Inner Zip Camisole: Tutuha
Red Top: Tutuha
PVC Shorts: Stolen from my Freya cosplay outfit  (LOL!!)
Stockings: Can't remember
Boots: Taobao (I tossed them after that day as the sole fell off, good bye my dear boots, you had served me well)
Necklace: Lip Service
Rings: Rubi & random blogshop
Bracelet: Taobao
Cap: Taobao
Wig: Prisila (my hair colour is pretty messed up currently)

There was a lucky draw consisting of individualised makeup pouches designed by the nine gyaru senseis, unfortunately I wasn't lucky enough to get one, but the organizers did give me a little goodie bag. I received a tray of Decorative lower lashes, a tube of Dollywink lash glue and a Candydoll nail polish all neatly packaged in a cute pink polka dotted paper bag

I think my outfit is rather over the top but I was feeling incredibly deprived of dressing up in full gyaru so I went all out with it. I need to lose alittle more weight so that the Tutuha top fits better but I'm glad that my exercise regime is showing some results as the zip camisole isn't as form-fitting as the last time I wore it, so I shall be using these clothes as gauges in my weight loss!

The event was pretty fun as I managed to meetup with some old friends as well as meeting new ones, I'm just alittle sad that not many people are as keen to try other gyaru styles such as rokku or onee gyaru let alone ones that are more out there such as ora-ora, but baby steps I guess. It's still nice to see more people embracing this style and more people turning up for events as time goes on.

Going to the Dark Side

I finally fixed my hair round last week or so. I've been needing a hair dye done really badly but as always, time isn't my friend and being bogged down by so many things doesn't help. But I eventually managed to squeeze an appointment in.

Here's the last picture taken of my last hair colour:

I must admit I do miss it quite alot, I really love the pinkish tinge in the blonde. But all good things must come to an end.

With graduation and job hunting looming round the corner, I figured I'd might as well get used to to having a darker hair colour since I'm not very sure where I'll end up working at. My hairdresser told me my hair will still fade out due to my previous bleaching so to get a happy compromise, we ended up with like a ombre/gradient hair colour that seems to be trending.

Dyed the top part a dark brown but left the ends my old hair colour, that's why the blonde isn't that obvious

It's easier to see the gradual change in colour from the sides.

It actually took me a whole week to get used to looking at myself with much darker hair. I still give myself second glances in the mirror from time to time, but I'm getting used to my new look. I also love how my hair appears less damaged now. I can still feel the slight roughness of my hair and there are the occasional split ends as well as flyaways but my hair looks shinier and stronger then it has ever been for a long long time.

I'm just waiting to see the end result after multiple washes, though it seems that my hair can finally "absorb" colours now as it doesn't seem to fade out as much as before.

Style: Fashion X-Treme 2012 S/S Collection

Being a bad blogger again due to the usual mountain of school work, but I shadn't bore you to tears with my usual tirade of apologies and excuses. So let's jump staright into today's topic, The Fashion X-treme 2012 event. It was an event held by Style Singapore magazine and featured the Spring/Summer clothes of brands, Aeropostale, dENIZEN, Dockers, Levis, New Look and T.M. Lewin.

My favourite event partner Jems got invites to the event, so I was his plus one! It was also my first ever outdoor fashion event, so it was pretty unique.

Garden concept for the event, there were even giant faux flowers and lollipops as decor.

Jems, my fashion bestie ever.

Didn't dress up much as I had classes earlier that day, this picture makes my limbs look so awkward :<

Maxi dress: Random shop in Holland Village

oversized knit top: Taobao

bracelet: Flea market find

To be honest, I can't remember which clothing goes with which brand any longer as the whole event started late so the models were rushing around trying to finish the event as quickly as possible. It also doesn't help that the same models were used for all the clothes from the different brands, so pardon me if I get the clothes mixed up. But I do know that I was utterly uninspired by Aeropostale's collection. It was too college-kid for me with the hoodies and denim skirts for girls and simple shorts and cargo shorts for guys so no pictures of their collection here. The rest were far more interesting and inspiring:

I suspect this guy came from the Dockers collection, it was an all male collection with alot of plaids, collared shirts with rolled up cuffs and just basically the dandy style all casualized. Very lovely casual style with abit of snazz to keep the look from being boring such as scarves tied around the neck to keep things interesting.

This lovely lady came from the dENIZEN collection. Love the bright yellow fading cropped top paired with the navy blue jeans. I won't wear this combination as it reminds me too much of my old school uniform, but it is a very relaxed, casual style that's perfect for shopping or just hanging out.

Guy's collection from dENIZEN. Love the quirky print on the tee and the purple cardigan tied around the waist to add a punch of colour. Little details do count towards the whole look.

dENIZEN again, I suspect. The bright red jeans add an interesting contrats to the acid wash denim top, and keeps the top from looking too 80's or 90's inspired.

My second favourite collection came from T.M. Lewin. Ironic since its a menswear company, but who can resist good looking guys who are so well-dressed? Quirky print on the shirt, a bow tie, bowler hat and fake glasses keep this look far from being boring.

The only male asian model for the evening. Also in T.M. Lewin's clothes, I haven't seen guys on the street wearing suspenders in such a long time, the well cut pants keep the look from being too school-boyish but retains its humorous charm at the same time.

Sorry for the extra heads in the picture but I really really like this model's outfit alot. The pop of orange against the grey really caught my attention. Having a model who reminds me of Jake Gyllenhal wear the outfit doesn't hurt the whole look too.

Favourite collection was no doubt from New Look. I loved everything from head to toe on the models, however, some of the outfits were painfully obvious that they were designed for stick-thin waifs and not chubbier hobbits like moi. So I'll just carry looking on in envy at the pretty clothes. Lots of lace, pastels and florals in the collection with all three done right in this combination.

Another lovely floral outfit with blue as the under-lying theme. Gorgeous hat and shoes, I need them in my wardrobe like right NOW!

A twist towards the end of the collection, with darker more rocker-esque inspried clothes in the colelction. Animal prints such as this snake skin print shorts and leopard print blouses were on display. Most of the models also had those half gloves on, a hint to a new trend perhaps?

The event was cute and chic and unique in its approach, however starting 1 1/2 hours late isn't fashionably late, its just downright late. However, it was still a fun experience.

I'll be finishing my exams soon enough, so once I'm done I'll hopefully be able to get on with my backlog of posts, I have a ton of reviews coming up!
