Gel Top Coat Review

Ever since I started using Majolica Majorca's gel top coat, I've been a fan. I adore the shine it gives and since then, I've refused to use normal top coats ever again.

One day, I stumbled upon this alternative gel topcoat whilst randomly browsing the display racks of SaSa.

 

It's called Do Best Loujene Gel Nail Topcoat, made in Taiwan and costs only $3.90!!

I figured why not? It's mega cheap and if something goes wrong, not much of a loss made. But this top coat has been pretty decent so far.

Packaging: rectangular bottle in an easy to remove plastic and cardboard packaging and I like that it's clearly labelled that it is a gel topcoat.

Weight: 10ml, decent size for quite a number of applications.

Texture: Thick and gloppy like most gel topcoats I assume, but easy enough to control

Application: Use the thickness to your advantage, don't be afraid to apply quite a thick layer because if you stinge on the amount, you wind up with ugly streaks on your nails. The brush it wide enough to cover the nail, I just use it to guide along the edge.

Drying time: Dries in minutes!!! Within 5 minutes it's done!

Lasting ability: It lost its shine after 3-4 days of normal wear and started cracking around the same time. The nails on my right hand started chipping after 4 days but it could be because I'm right-handed, I'm not exactly sure.

Price: Only $3.90, okay $4 if you wanna be picky. But that price is incredibly hard to beat! Even Majolica Majorca's version cost bout $20 can't really remember but I know isn't wasn't this cheap.

I've switched over to this topcoat since my Majolica Majorca version is nearly done and its getting hard to apply with so little left in the bottle. Of course, the packaging isn't as pretty but it does pretty much the same job and for such a price, I'm super stoked to have grabbed such a bargain. I should definitely look around SaSa for bargains like this next time. 

Makeup review: Daiso Eyeshadow

I had heard great things about Daiso's eyeshadows from my cosplay friends so when my Facebook was going nuts with them spreading the news that a new shipment of eyeshadows had landed in Singapore like wildfire, I knew I had to give it a try.

I decided to give 2 different palettes a try:

The plastic is obviously cheap but it does have some weight to it and hasn't broken so far, the sponge applicator is quite rough so I never use it.

The colours are pearly white, dark brown, gold and grey-black. Judging from the sheen, they really live up to their name of being "Pearl in" eyeshadows. There are no large glitter chunks and the shadows are finely milled making it easy to apply with my makeup brush. I now use this palette for all my makeup needs as the colours are suitable for day and is buildable for night too.

The other palette I got was this purple version, I wanted to see the difference between the two palettes and I needed purple eyeshadow for a character I'm planning to cosplay soon. 

The plastic is alot heavier and sturdier compared to the previous palette but it only has 3 varying shades.  

I haven't actually worn out the eyeshadow yet so this is my first time trying them. The shadows felt rougher then the above palette but the colour was alot more intense as it only required one swipe of eyeshadow to produce the intensity in this picture whereas the other require 2-3 swipes before the colours were obvious on camera. there are large glitter chunks in it, especially the darkest purple shade, so I'm bit worried bout it possibly irritating my eyes if the glitter somehow got in. The white shadow has a purplish tinge to it, so it can double as a highlighter on other parts of the face if applied subtly.

Best part of the purple palette, it has an in-built mirror! There were also 2 sponge applicators that are thicker and softer.

To be honest, I was bit apprehensive bout the shadows because I was wondering just how good could $2 makeup be? However, I was proven wrong! The colours are subtle enough in real life but cameras are able to capture the colours with amazing clarity in pictures, so now I use them all the time for my cosplay makeup. Comparing them to my more expensive brand name eyeshadows, of course in terms of packaging, it loses out, but in terms of quality, it's almost on par and sometimes far exceed the brand name versions.

Basically, if you ever see these eyeshadows on the shelves of your nearest Daiso, just grab them! Trust me, you won't regret it, and even if you do, hey it's just $2.

Chanel Nail Polish Review

Chanel nail polishes are my recent obsession and I've been in love from the very first stroke of the brush.

May was my very first Chanel polish and I actually bought it at the spur of the moment whilst looking for my perfect nude polish (I've yet to find it). It's a very sweet pink that's not too glaring, it reminds me of the sweet colours that Rinka likes to wear.

Jo helped me to get this Peche Nacree shade during her last visit to Singapore. True to it's name, it's a subtle peach shade that goes with anything.

Rose Cache was another shade that Jo helped me get, I was alittle apprehensive abotu the colour as it appeared darker then what I thought, but after application I changed my mind. It's an elegant understated darker nude, almost tan shade.

The three current shades that I have in my collection.

Colour: true to the bottle, it require only one coat for the colour to cover the nails but I apply two coats for a stronger colour

Ease of Use: The brush was large enough to cover most of my nails, the mixture wasn't too thick and streaking was minimal, I could even apply without paying close attention and there wouldn't be much streaking

Drying time: Dries insanely fast!! From starting with my base coat to the final top coat, it takes only roughly a half hour to dry. This is perhaps one of the greatest perks for me especially now that I'm quite strapped for time.

Packaging: Elegant and instantly recognisable with the Chanel logo on top of the cap and splashed across the front in large bold lettering, the top cap pops open to reveal the smaller brush that is also embossed with the Chanel logo.

Lasting Ability: The shortest time before chipping was about 4-5 days and that was after opening mutiple drink cans, the longest was slightly over a week though I could see cracks forming but it wasn't visible from far.

This is perhaps the only polish I'm using currently, the colours are suited for my office within a corporate environment. Now that I'm constantly meeting clients, I doubt it's appropriate to show up with bright, flashy colours or with chunks of glitter, these colours make me feel professional and pretty at the same time. 

I plan to add more colours into my collection and am currently eyeing a colour, specifically, Majesty. I also managed to get another colour Fracs, which I just managed to paint on, hence no picture, but you can see it on my Instagram. I'm also still looking out for my perfect nude nail polish, I plan to try out Estee Lauder's new nude collection but does anyone have any reccomendation? 

                          

Dollywink Nail Polish Review & Quick Update

Gonna do a quick review on my Dollywink no.8 nail polish. The colour is pretty blue, like a sky blue which is really sweet looking. I'm not sure about the price as I received it for free during the gyaru event run by Watsons ages ago, but I do recall it not being that worth the price for its tiny size as compared to say OPI brand.

Outer Packaging: Was inside a plastic package which had cute lace designs and a large bow print on the top (sorry I forgot to take pictures but you can find it all over the internet). It was relatively easy to open as it was secured simply by tape, so cut the tape and you're ready to go.

Design: the bottle is shaped abit like a jewel, so its really endearing and just screams cuteness. The cap was long enough to paint with though the entire thing is rather small and only contains 4.5ml of nail polish.

Ease of use: The brush was large enough to glide along my nail, however, the formula was thick and gloopy causing alot of product to land on the sides of my nails and made it difficult to control. When I tried to reduce the amount of polish on the brush, I wound up with super thin streaks of polish and I had to apply many times just to create one layer of polish. This created alot of ugly streaks on the nail.

Drying time: It takes an insanely long time to dry! I was watching a movie whilst painting but even after the movie had ended, the polish was still soft when I pressed gently against it. It could be becasue I had to build up a pretty thick layer for the colour to look nice on my nails and to remove any streaks.

Lasting ability: I applied my Majolica Majorca glass drop top coat over it to give it a gel-like shine and it looked really pretty, but it started chipping after 3-4 days. Then again, I do housework and stuffs so nail polishes don't last very long on my hands, however, I've had polishes that last up to a week so comparatively, this polish isn't really resistant to external factors.

Overall: 4/10, only the Dollywink brand and cute colours attract me to it. However, the colours can be bought else where so I probably won't ever purchase Dollywink nail polishes. I'm just glad I got it for free instead of shelling out money only to be disappointed.

On a side note, I'm settling into my new job as a marketing executive pretty nicely, my colleagues have been very nice and patient and there's been alot of guidance along the way. I.m really hoping to stay in this company for the long haul so I am trying my best to get used to everything despite being on a steep learning curve as I've never done design work, whichc now I'm required to do.

Unfortunately, I haven't had the time or energy to dress up lately as I'm either deadbeat or not planning to go out these past weekends. I am getting a shipment of new clothes to suit my cult party/mori/dolly wadever mix it is style that I'm heading at so hopefully, things will get more vibrant on this blog in time to come. In the mean time, here's a super simple outfit I wore last week on a date with the bf:

Been super busy with work as its been a real learning curve from knowing the products to how the office is run and stuff. It's a good thing that being a small company, there isn't much politics or a strong heirachy system since everyone's work differs from each other slightly so at least that's one less worry.

I used a Dollywink nail polish (review coming soon!) for the bluish-green base and then carefully applied the nail stickers over it before sealing with a top coat. The ribbon was stuck on with nail glue

My initial inspiration for the design of the nails was the manga/anime Paradise Kiss, and more specifically the dress the protagonist wore during the showcase of the team's final work.

You can clearly see why I chose the stickers with the butterfly and cloud motifs as well as the beaded butterfly decoration

What surprised me was how the eventual result actually looked pretty Oriental in design, kind of like a chinese porcelain vase motif or something. Oh crap I'm digressing again anyway here's the review:

Ease of use: 9/10 (just peel the sticker off the board and stick, I use a nail clipper to cut away the excess and I was done)

Effect: 9.5/10 (I loved the look of the stickers though it was pretty obvious that it wasn't painted on when viewed up close but there's only so many people who would scrutinise your nails from a super close range right?)

Lasting Power: 8/10 (being a rather rough person, I'm surprised it lasted a total of 4 days before I noticed the edges starting to peel off. A little tip is to seal the nail's edge with your top coat to try and make it last a day or 2 longer. The ribbons dropped off after 2 days but it wasn't surprising since the ribbon is fairly large and got in the way some times.)

Overall: 7/10 (really recommended for a special look like for an event or something but not regular use since it does take alittle more work on top of painting your nail polish.)

First thing about this mask that I noticed was how tightly stretched it was!! The moment I hooked the masks onto my ears, I could feel it literally stretching my facial muscles back. It wasn't painful just alittle uncomfortable but still bearable throughout the 20 minutes that I left it onto my face.

The moment I removed the mask, I could feel my face was tighter and areas like my jawline was definitely sharper and more contoured. I figured it was simply a mixture of the tightness of the mask and the serum in it and the effects would be gone the moment the serum had all been absorbed. 

However, the very next day, the tightness was still evident in my face! I could see the difference all day long! My pores were also tightened and my face had a soft dewy glow all day, I was in love with everything this mask had done for my skin.

 My plan for this mask is to probabaly use it before my cosplay events or photoshoots, since most anime girls have defined chin and facial contours. However, it is good for anyone who just wants a more defined facial line anytime. This mask definitely has my stamp of approval!

Nail Polish Comparison: Anna Sui & Dupe

My personal favourite nail polish colour is nude. I find that it looks really classy no matter the situation, it matches any and all clothing style and its less obvious when it starts chipping. So here's a comparison between my two current nude nail polishes, my favourite Anna Sui in shade 700 and a cheaper option from Sasa labelled as sasatinnie (perhaps Sasa's house brand?) in shade Q23.

The two bottles side by side, the cheaper option on the left and Anna Sui polish on the right. As you can see, at first glance, the colour & shade look rather similar, but they differ upon application

Anna Sui nail polish was painted on the longer, left finger while Sasa's dupe was painted on the right. This is the first coat over a normal base polish, nothing more.

This picture is with a second coat of polish. By this time, you can start to see a difference in the polishes. The Anna Sui one (on the left) has a deeper pink undertone to it as compared to the dupe (on the right) which has a more beige undertone to it.

This picture shows the third coat. As you can see, the Anna Sui polish is definitely more pink-ish in comparison to the lighter dupe colour. The glitter flakes in the Anna Sui polish is also more obvious and its consistency is much thicker as compared to the dupe's rather watery consistency. The dupe also required about 4-5 coats of polish before I was satisfied with the look.

This is the end result of the dupe nude polish by Sasa. I love the look despite not performing as well as its more expensive cousin

Comparison (Anna Sui shall be written in blue, while the dupe shall be written in red):

Consistency: 

Thicker consistency that required only 3 coats for the eventual result. It also covered the white outer edge of my nail pretty effectively

Rather watery and thin and required 4-5 coats before I could finally not see the white outer edge of my nail

Glitter frequency:

Glitter particles were obvious to the naked eye in the bottle and when painted on nail but in tiny specks that aren't obvious from afar or in pictures

Minute glitter particles can be seen in the bottle but seems to disappear when painted on my nails

Smell:

Anna Sui's signature rose scent that is pleasant and helps make the experience of painting one's nails more enjoyable

Normal nail polish chemical smell, but it isn't very strong so its bearable and I even painted in my room with the air conditioner switched on with no problems of the smell wafting about my room or making me feel faint

Drying time:

Not sure, as I often paint my nails while watching TV or videos on my laptop. It does however take awhile to dry especially between coats

Short drying time, I painted my nails and it dried within an hour (including top coat) with no obivous marks

Durability:

Started showing signs of cracking within 5 days of wearing, started chipping on the 6th day no matter what kind of top coat was used

Held up for about 4 days before starting to chip in minor places, my first major chip was on the 5th day.

Price:

About $13-$15 depending on the colours

Bought mine at $5 during a sale but I think its about $11 during normal periods

Colour:

Has a pink base that is more suitable for other skin tones, it somehow makes my hands appears darker in colour

Has a beige undertone which enhances my skin's natural undertone making my hands look fairer

Overall:

4/5 (lovely packaging & smell and nice thick consistency)

3.5/5 (it only wins for me because the colour matches my skintone perfectly, but anywhere else it falls short of Anna Sui's polish in comparison and it's rather disappointing considering its normal price is close to Anna Sui's)

Overall, I would rather prefer to get the Anna Sui polish however, due to the simple fact that this nail polish matches my skintone and makes it look better makes me wanna stick with the dupe instead. However, I may pop by a Anna Sui counter when this polish is running low and perhaps ask for a similar polish, perhaps the colour will suit my skintone better then. 

Makeup Review: Majolica Majorca Blood On Lip & Cheek Tint

Majolica Majorca has a real knack for tempting you to buy their products with their lovely packaging and this lovely cheek and lip tint was no different. I had initially attempted to convince myself to not purchase this tint but of course, I failed in doing so as the cute packaging and texture of the product won me over. Not to mention, having a product named Blood On does pique one's curiosity quite abit!

I later found out that the product was named Flesh & Blood in Japan but I guess it sounds alittle too gory so it was probably renamed Blood On to sound alittle more palatable and less like a bad zombie movie. 

 The lovely tint in its packaging, its adorable how they included the card like design on the back.

 The tint itself, looking at how red it is does probably scare people away thinking it'll be a rather strong colour, however the resulting colour is anything but strong.

This is after applying the cheek and lip tint to my own cheeks and lips. As you can see, the colour is rather natural and flushed, kindda like how one's cheeks and lips will look like after coming back from the cold or a jog.

This is how it looks like after I've applied a touch of Candydoll's pink blush on top & alittle more lipgloss, its quite natural as you can see (pardon the messy wardrobe behind me)

The tint is alittle disappointing in my opinion as it is advertised as a stain, however the colour doesn't stain in any manner (except maybe on clothes, I haven't really tried that) and it does fade off after a few hours. Also, since I already have my Canmake cream blush and Anna Sui lip stain, I naturally compared to them both and it fell short.

As a blush, it does produce a natural, flushed look, however the sticky gel-like texture remains sticky after application unlike the Canmake cream blush that becomes powdery after application. So I do recommend a light dusting of loose powder unless the really natural, barely done look is what you're after. The colour also doesn't show up as well on camera so if I should ever use it for photography purposes, I'd probably have to pile it on just to look right on camera. The tint is also devoid of glitters so if you're not a fan of glittery blush, this might just be the product for you. Applying the blush also requires abit of tugging on the skin around my cheeks to spread the product evenly, so it's definitely not something I wanna continue using in the long run to avoid the risk of early wrinkles.

As a lip stain, the colour is again a pretty natural pink look that is reminiscent of those baby pink lips that you see on models. However the colour comes off the moment I eat or drink anything, and again it fails to show up well on camera. However, the good things about it is that it is relatively tasteless and odour-less as compared to my Anna Sui lip stain which has its signature rose smell. So people who abhor scented products will love it very much. The product is also pretty mositurizing on my lips so no worries about having dry, cracked lips from this product unlike other lip stains.

In summary:

Colour Intensity: 6/10 (Lovely natural colour which is especially good for a natural, barely done look but not enough for heavier, more intense makeup styles. Personally I like to layer my Candydoll blush over for added intensity.)

Texture: Sticky and gel-like (it will remain sticky after use so I recommend a light dusting of loose powder, but its up to your personal preference)

Barely shows up on camera so not suitable for heavier makeup styles or photography purposes

Price: 7/10 (At SGD$17.50 I can't complain too much about the price as it is a decent product)

Overall: 7/10 (it fails to live up to my expectations which maybe skewed from the comparisons I made to my Canmake cream blush & Anna Sui lip stain, however it is a decent product that does as described. Just remember that its more suited for the natural look and that it requires touch ups if you plan to wear it all day. It is however, a very useful product for travelling and for quick fixes)

I don't hate the product but I don't love it with all my heart either, I probably wouldn't purchase it again only simply because I have other products that do a better job that it. However, this will definitely be in my makeup bag should I travel out of the country as it is a fantastic double use product in a slim container that doesn't take up much space. So I really recommend it for people who want greater mileage out of their products, or if you're a fan of the barely made up look and if you constantly travel.

Lens Review: Kimchi Bambi Green Lens

I had received my beautiful Kimchi Bambi Green lensesfrom Lens Village awhile back but had been far too busy to get down to reviewing it. I picked this lens for its vibrant green colour as I needed green lenses for cosplay but wanted something not too crazy obvious for regular wear as well. This pair of lenses fit the bill!

 I like it when the brand clearly displays itself on the lens packaging, some brands have other names printed on the label which makes me incredibly suspicious of its source

 Lens Village  also kindly gave a matching pair of green froggy lens cases to store my lenses. I remember my friends poking fun at my animal lens cases when I brought them to the chalet last Cosfest

 The lovely lenses, as you can see there's a yellow/gold inner rim followed by the green colour and finally a black outer rim with pointy designs

 The obligatory one lens in, one lens out picture. You can clearly see how much of an enlargement the 16mm lens produces

 Both lenses in with minimal sunlight and no flash, the green is rather dark in colour but still visible

 No sunlight and with strong camera flash, the green is very obvious and the gold/yellow inner rim fades out gently to the green colour and not in a weird blocky way

 I took this picture out in strong natural sunlight but in the shade. You can still see the green and gold of the lens quite clearly

On the bus in strong natural sunlight, the shade makes the green less visible but its still obvious enough.

I'm used to wearing fairly large lenses by now, so putting in these 16mm lenses weren't much of a challenge for me, though if this is your first circle lens, it maybe abit of a challenge putting it in considering their size and they're just a shade thicker then other lenses such as say, the Nudy series. 

I've worn these lenses out all day and so far, I've yet to find any discomfort with them, they're fabulously comfortable and the colours do not block my line of sight so I do forget that I am wearing them at times. The look it produces is quite doll-like so its perfect for dressing up though the enlargement and thick black outer rim does make rather obvious, so naturally I recommend wearing these lenses with fake lashes to balance the whole look.  

Overall:

Comfort: 4.9/5 (nothing's perfect but this comes close)

Design: 4.5/5 (No way is it natural looking but it produces the doll-like look, & it's a dead ringer for Tsubasa's Bambi lenses)

Enlargement: 4.9/5 (it's huge, but still comfortably so)

On the whole: 4.5/5 

I truly love these lenses as firstly, they look incredibly similar to Tsubasa's Bambi lenses, secondly they are actually larger then Tsubasa's lenses by 1mm hence the increased enlargement resulting in an even dollier look, thirdly the colours are also more obvious and vibrant then Tsubasa's Bambi lenses. This is basically Tsubasa's lenses on crack haha!

Personally, I love that the lenses are obvious enough for cosplay purposes but the design makes it quite good for regular wear as compared to some of the other cosplay lenses I have that make me look like a dead fish without the proper makeup. Just remember that they are anything but natural looking though their comfort and design totally make up for it!

Skincare Review: Sana Hadanomy Collagen Mist & Skin Food Carrot Collagen Eye Sheet

I've realised that I've been incredibly slow on my product reviews, so here's 2 quick reviews of products that I've come to love. Unfortunately, there's no before or after pictures of me using the products so you just gotta take my word for how fabulous they really are.

First product is Sana's Hadanomy Collagen Mist:

It seems that the product is pretty well-known as I've seen it being mentioned a few times in other blogs. This is the mini, limited edition bottle which I bought for SGD$10, though it seems to be sold out by now. The original size costs bout SGD$20 if I remember correctly.

Product claims to contain collagen in a fast-absorbing mist, with 3 other moisturizing ingredients combined, hyaluronic acid, acerola extract and honey. Also claims to be free of colorants and mineral oil. According to the instructions, the product can be used at anytime when your skin feels dry with examples such as after a bath or washing one's face or even over makeup for a "excellent natural, radiant setting".

I tried the spray only once over my makeup, which unfortunately caused my Majolica Majorca foundation to slide right off after a couple hours, however, my new foundation does leave my cheeks with some dry patches, so maybe this spray might be the trick to blend it in. However, I mostly use it at night after applying my L'oreal pre-essence and before my other moisturizers. In my experience, the spray does help in moisturizing my face and with its lovely floral scent it's a cool, refreshing relief just before bed.

Texture: Light with a mild, floral fragrance

Recomended skin type: No indication so I assume it should be fine for most skin types

Absorption rate: Incredibly fast, I spray 2-3 pumps on my face and it gets absorbed near-instantaneously

Amount needed: Bout 2-3 pumps will do, I've used it since late last year on a near daily basis and the bottle is only 1/4 finished

Price: SGD$10 for this mini edition (if I recall correctly), the larger bottle has twice the amount for bout SGD$20

Popularity: I've seen it being mentioned in a few blogs and in Japanese magazines. It's also the most popular product out of the entire Sana Hadanomy Collagen range

Options: There's an entire skin care range dedicated to it so if your skin's on the dry side, perhaps the range might be just what you need

Plus points: Free from colourants and mineral oil, and since only 2-3 pumps is needed per application, the original-sized bottle will last for a long time. It also makes for a refreshing skin refresher in the day since the product claims to be small enough to penetrate the skin under makeup.

The other product I'm reviewing is Skin Food's Carrot Collagen eye sheet:

My friend bought it for me during her holiday in Korea, but it's priced at SGD$5 at our local Skin Food outlets. The product claims to contain carrot extract for Vitamin A, marine collagen and royal jelly, all of which help to moisturize and tighten the eye area. The patches are to be placed under the eye area for 30-45 mintues, I watched one anime episode just to keep track of time.

I hardly ever use eye masks, however, with countless nights staying up late for various reasons, my eyes have taken a serious beating. I now have incredibly bad dark eye circles and puffy eyebags, and must depend on the power of a concealer to camouflage the damage inflicted on my poor eyes. So I figured why not finally put this mask to use, since it couldn't get any worse, and I was so glad I did! My eyebags disappeared and my dark circles reduced just after a single application, the effect lasted for about a week with no change to my sleeping pattern.

Texture: gel-like

Recomended skin type: Dry and sensitive

Absorption rate: Instructions were to leave the patches on for 30-45 minutes, I left them on for about 40 minutes and most of the gel had been absorbed by then

Price: SGD$5 a pair in local stores, however, I'm sure it can be bought for far less online or in Korea itself.

Just note that, the sheet isn't very soft and pliable, so it sat on a weird area on my right lower eye area, causing mild irritation with the sheet rubbing my lower lid. However, the mild suffering caused by the sheet was well worth the resulting effects.

Nothing most of the time.. the few times will be water or Coke zero if I want something sweet

Must I choose? I can't decide between pink & purple. Pink creeps into my life, I have no idea why I have so many pink stuffs but I'm partial to purple for being able to be dark yet feminine at the same time

Howl's Moving Castle, and it will always have a permanent place in my heart

Plan a graduation trip with friend/s and get a decent job after graduation

Since this is a rather short post, I'll toss in a quick review of Majolica Majorca's Galss Drop Gel Coat:

It's a top coat with an exception, it produces a really lovely shiny look reminiscent of a gel or gelish style manicure. This top coat helps to make your DIY nail polish look expensive and professionally done! It dries pretty fast too, so I haven't experienced any messes with it yet. My only gripe is that after bout 3-4 days, my nail polishes start to crack and chip apart so with lighter colours, the cracks are more obvious then darker colours or glitter polishes. However, that's something I can live with since I usually change my nail polish after a week or so.

It's thick consistency makes it easy to apply and spread around your nail, only one coat is needed for each finger. For the price of $14.50, it's alittle pricier then normal top coats but it's truly worth its price and I doubt I'll ever use other top coats ever again if they continue its production.

Personal Outfit & Magnetic Nail Polish

I went to support Steph during her gig last Friday. Her band and her totally remade some songs into acoustic versions which were simply amazing! Funny enough, I was freaking out about what to wear to the event and Steph eventually suggested the outfit I ended up in:

My hair failed me by refusing to curl but I really really liked my makeup that day.

Anyway, the day before the gig, I managed to snag myself a bottle of Magnetic effect nail polish. The brand I got is Nails inc. in the shade, Trafalgar Square. Its kindda like a gun metal shade of grey, the bluish undertones look great with my skin but I suspect the magnet which came with the nail polish was too weak, I could barely create the designs on my nails.

I do see some darker spots here and there, almost like an airbrushed effect but I think I'll try the nail polish with a stronger magnet during the next round. The polish also dries incredibly fast, so it's pretty amazing. However, the best part I like about it is, if you made a mistake or hated the design u managed to create with the magnet, you could easily paint a generous coat of d polish over the previous polish and restart the design process all over again!

The result of 2-3 coats of polish with my first attempt at trying to get d magnetic effect. By now the nails have begun to chip abit, however, considering it managed to last nearly the entire weekend, I'm truly amazed since I'm pretty rough with my hands. I even do the housework without any gloves or anything.

I tried to paint my toenails minus the magnetic effect. In real life, there is a difference in the look of my finger and toenails, however my camera decides to get all cranky on me and decided to not snap d best looking picture. In the end, if you use this particular shade as a normal polish, the colour is still pretty nice.

Overall, if it weren't for the amazing shade of polish I managed to snag, I think the whole magnetic hype is kindda overrated. It does produce a lovely pattern however, its alittle tricky to get the right look from it but considerng I paid about $21.90 for it at Watsons, I think the price isn't too bad. It's bit pricy but not crazy expensive, so its a simple trend that everyone can try.
