Lens Review: Kimchi Bambi Green Lens

I had received my beautiful Kimchi Bambi Green lensesfrom Lens Village awhile back but had been far too busy to get down to reviewing it. I picked this lens for its vibrant green colour as I needed green lenses for cosplay but wanted something not too crazy obvious for regular wear as well. This pair of lenses fit the bill!

My lovely lenses snuggly packed in layers of bubble wrap inside this useful box from Lens Village

I like it when the brand clearly displays itself on the lens packaging, some brands have other names printed on the label which makes me incredibly suspicious of its source

Lens Village  also kindly gave a matching pair of green froggy lens cases to store my lenses. I remember my friends poking fun at my animal lens cases when I brought them to the chalet last Cosfest

The lovely lenses, as you can see there's a yellow/gold inner rim followed by the green colour and finally a black outer rim with pointy designs

The obligatory one lens in, one lens out picture. You can clearly see how much of an enlargement the 16mm lens produces

Both lenses in with minimal sunlight and no flash, the green is rather dark in colour but still visible

No sunlight and with strong camera flash, the green is very obvious and the gold/yellow inner rim fades out gently to the green colour and not in a weird blocky way

I took this picture out in strong natural sunlight but in the shade. You can still see the green and gold of the lens quite clearly

On the bus in strong natural sunlight, the shade makes the green less visible but its still obvious enough.

I'm used to wearing fairly large lenses by now, so putting in these 16mm lenses weren't much of a challenge for me, though if this is your first circle lens, it maybe abit of a challenge putting it in considering their size and they're just a shade thicker then other lenses such as say, the Nudy series.

I've worn these lenses out all day and so far, I've yet to find any discomfort with them, they're fabulously comfortable and the colours do not block my line of sight so I do forget that I am wearing them at times. The look it produces is quite doll-like so its perfect for dressing up though the enlargement and thick black outer rim does make rather obvious, so naturally I recommend wearing these lenses with fake lashes to balance the whole look.

Overall:

Comfort: 4.9/5 (nothing's perfect but this comes close)
Design: 4.5/5 (No way is it natural looking but it produces the doll-like look, & it's a dead ringer for Tsubasa's Bambi lenses)
Enlargement: 4.9/5 (it's huge, but still comfortably so)
On the whole: 4.5/5

I truly love these lenses as firstly, they look incredibly similar to Tsubasa's Bambi lenses, secondly they are actually larger then Tsubasa's lenses by 1mm hence the increased enlargement resulting in an even dollier look, thirdly the colours are also more obvious and vibrant then Tsubasa's Bambi lenses. This is basically Tsubasa's lenses on crack haha!

Personally, I love that the lenses are obvious enough for cosplay purposes but the design makes it quite good for regular wear as compared to some of the other cosplay lenses I have that make me look like a dead fish without the proper makeup. Just remember that they are anything but natural looking though their comfort and design totally make up for it!

P.S. Lens Village also has a facebook page, so you can follow them for updates & stuff. Check them out here !

Contact Lens Review: Barbie Tri Blend brown

My life has become extraordinarily boring lately, hence the lack of updates. All that happens to me lately is going to school and back, meeting buyers for my cosplay costumes and some of my old Japanese gyaru magazines, meeting the bf and staying at home doing housework and schoolwork.

So in order to keep this blog updated and prevent it from stagnating, I decided to try and catch up with my reviews. Espeically when I've been using plenty of new products lately but always forget to take pictures for a review, however, as fate would have it, my camera decided it was time to fizz out and die on me. I'll try to continue my reviews using my mom's super old camera, but no promises as I need to figure out the functions and try to take nice pictures with it. In the meantime, here's a review that I managed to take pics of just before my camera died.

I'm reviewing Barbie tri Blend Brown lenses. I got them to replace my old adult brown lense that had started to irritate my eyes, I had been using them for more then 6 months anyway, so I guess it was a hint that I oughta change it anyway. Again, these lenses are super simple lenses that I had purchased for the pupose of using them for school and days when I don't wanna wear much makeup.

The poster for Barbie Tri Blend Brown. It claims to be 14.5mm but its more of 14mm in my opinon and its manufactored by the same company that produces Candy Magic king lenses.

One lens in, one lens out. Minimal enlarging as you can see.

Both lenses in with no flash indoors. They look like very natural lenses.

Both lenses in and with direct flash. The design is very minimal and blends in seamlessly with my dark eye colour, a super plain pair of lense that you really shouldn't expect much from it. No way will it be good enough for the super enlarged look for gyaru makeup.

In terms of comfort, the lens is definitely very comfortable, with little need for me to apply eyedrops even after spending a whole day in an air-conditioned classroom. Its super natural looking due to the smaller diameter and it not having the typical black iris-enlarging black ring.

I've been using the lens for many many months now so maybe its bout time for me to change it its starting to get blurry after a couple hours of wear, but it could also be my eyes acting up as lately my lids have become abit sore for no apparent reason. I'll be seeing a doctor soon if my eyes don't get any better after switching lenses and throwing out my old makeup.

But overall, its a fantastic pair of lens for a natural look and I really recommend it.

Contact Lens Review: Adult series Brown

Today's review is the Adult Brown contact lenses. Modelled by Sayaka Araki as shown here:

I ordered the lens because I needed something simple for school/off days. Plus it looked pretty nice in the poster as shown.

The usual one lens in, one lens out photo. The lens is only 14.00mm big in diameter, so you can see its only a tad bigger then my normal irises.

Without flash, the lens look really normal, so no one and I mean, no one, even looks twice at me in class, which suits me just fine.

With flash, you can see the design on the lens. Its really trying hard to look like a kind of design that would occur in nature.
First and foremost, I had bought this pair of lens for the sole reason of using them for school, so that I won't have to be bothered to dress up and all that. But I actually came to love the lens over time. I really like that the lens are super natural looking, because of the design, the smaller diameter and the fact that there's no black outer ring.
The lens is comfortable, however, at times I do get the feeling of the lens in my eye, but that's usually when my eyes are drying out and it could be due to the strong air-conditioning in my school. A few drops of eyedrops and some blinking and the problem is usually solved.
One really great thing bout this pair of lens is that, if i do accidentally put the lens inside-out in my eye, the lens colour actually appears gray-ish thus instantly notifying me of the error.
Overall, a great pair of lens but if you're attemtping the gyaru, elarged irises kindda look, well, I'd say that you'll be sorely disappointed because of the size and impact of the lens. It'll work much better as an off day lens.
*On a side note, I have a 100+ followers! Its not as much as other bloggers out there, but I just would like to let my readers know that I really appreciate you guys following me and leaving comments. Its really heart-warming when I know that my opinions are heard and that I'm not just blabbing to myself. So thanks again my dear followers and let me know if there's anyway that I can improve or what kindda stuffs you would like to see me write about kays?

Contact Lens Review: Jewel series aka Candy series Brown

Just last month or so, I bought a total of 3 different pairs of circle lenses as my old ones had been tossed out after they started irritating my eyes pretty badly (I swear the old ones were fake judging from the packaging and the numerous complaints I've read about the blogshop...oh well... luckily no harm done!).

After researching bout comfort, design etc. this pair, the Jewel/Candy series was my first choice as I've been seeing it everywhere! Literally!

Most recently worn by Kumickey in the September (I think??) issue of Popteen

And most famously by Tsubasa during her Dollywink campaign, I think in the various images for the different lashes, she pretty much wore most of the selection of colours (except for pink, I think)...
So after getting my own pair, I was really looking forward to how it would appear on my own eyes:

The usual one side lens in, one side no lens photo

Now with both lenses in

As you can see, the 14.5 diameter really enlarges the eyes, though most of the enlargement probably comes from the black ring around it. I like the colour from far, it really changes my eye colour to a soft hazel and resembles my old Max Pure Browns alot such as looking like the glass eyes of dolls and stuffed toys albeit with a large black ring around it.
However, if someone does peer closely at my eyes, the pixelation details that make up the brown colour is pretty obvious, but that's only if the person is really close to your face. So far I've only had good comments from friends who've seen me wearing it so I guess that's a good thing!
I do have to warn you that the lens is thicker then most other lenses I've gotten so far, so sometimes putting it in, can be a pain (but it could be because my eyes can be pretty sensitive at times), but giving it a little swirl in some fresh solution tends to solve the problem. Plus I do need some eyedrops now and then, as the lens do dry out abit and start threatening to drop out whenever I blink.

I also find my eyes do appear "doll-like" at times, meaning lifeless and glass-like, so if you're not a fan of the look then this pair of lenses probably isn't for you.
But other then all that, I do love this particular pair of lenses, though I treat them more as cosmetic lenses and wear them less often then others.
*Just a note: No, my previous lenses didn't start to irritate my eyes due to poor hygiene and/or care. I am very anal about keeping my lens clean and don't just dump them in solution, I take the time and energy to rub them with a protein remover/lens cleaner everytime I wear a pair before washing them with solution and storing it in a cleaned lens case and fresh solution. Plus, I have done proper research (which I admit I should have done earlier) this time when ordering the new lenses, so I am sure they are now authentic.

Contact Lens Review: Barbie Super Nudy Brown

Awhile back, I ordered and received a pair of contact lens as I had thrown away my previous lenses afetr they started to irritate my eyes pretty badly, and I knew it couldn't be due to the way I was handling the lenese as I'm pretty anal about it and clean them as much as I possible could everytime after use.

So I decided to try out a different brand of lens and after seeking Steph's advice, I gave Barbie Eye a go:
This was the poster of the lens I bought
It was delivered in this nifty little box and had layers upon layers of bubble wrap over it

The lens bottles...

Tried the lens out, this is how it looks like with flash...

This is without flash...
As you can clearly see, the effect of the lens, don't quite match up to what was originally shown in the poster, the colour is so light that my dark eyes just wash out the light colour leaving behind a weird speckled, greenish/yellowish colour of the lens. I liken the effect to pond scum actually....

It was also advertised that the lens are of 15.8mm diameter which I don't exactly believe considering how much enlargement it has, honestly, without the black ring around it, the lens would probably look like ordinary fashion lenses.
I was so disappointed with it that I kept lamenting to Steph about it (which must have probably irked the hell out of her, sorry Steph!). However, Steph urged me to give it awhile as I probably wasn't used to the effectas compared to my other more obvious lenses.
After wearing it for nearly a month, I can say it's a pair of extremely comfortable lenses! I can use it all day and even took a nap once with them on and my eyes were as good as ever! Sometimes in air-conditioned areas, they do tend to dry out abit, but it isn't something that a couple of eyedrops wouldn't help, but that's a rare occurence.
However, I'm still not very fond of the effects of this pair of lens, so I'll probably end up using it for school and such in due time. However, if you're looking for a pair of really comfotable lens over fancy effects, I highly recommend using them!

New Circle Lens

With the lens only in one eye... I really have a o_O expression here...

I love the speckled design on the lens, though the black rim makes it very obviously unnatural...

After hearing great reviews about the Barbie King lens and staring a magazines with nearly every single model donning a pair. I decided I had to get a pair and see what was all the hype about.

And I totally do not regret getting a pair! They're sooo comfortable! I don't feel them at all throughout the day and they don't require any eyedrops unlike my Max Pure browns. In fact, my Max Pure browns are currently stagnating in a corner because I wouldn't stop wearing my Barbie Kings.

My favourite lens for sure!

Circle Lenses!!

In order to be a full fleged Gyaru, there are numerous things that one must do, such as styling your hair properly, putting on proper make up, dressing the part and many other things. However, there is one part which many girls fail to realise that its a crucial part of getting the Gyaru look, and that is, Circle lenses!!!
Moi finally got her hands on some circle lens after much research online (and not much help from the local government that kept plastering signs against buying contacts online), and finally found a local seller who imported lens direct from Japan with reasonable prices. Thanks to http://www.exclusive-lens.blogspot.com/
I bought 3 different lens as I not only wanted a pair for daily wear, but 2 others for cosplay purposes, so after tons of reasearch I bought a pair of Max Pure Browns for my daily wear as I'd read that they are more natural looking and one of the most comfortable lenses in the market.

First and foremost, this is how my eyes look like, completely devoid of makeup, so pardon the horrible oily skin and open pores and such for all the subsequent pictures. My eyes are really dark brown, almost black so it's hard to even locate the irises.

After putting in the Max Pure Brown lens on one eye, as you can see, there is an enlargement at 14.5mm and the colour appears lighter.

My Max Pure Browns without any flash, they look really really natural

With flash, you can see more obviously the brown colour, sometimes, I think they look like the glass eyes of dolls and soft toys, but I really like them alot

I received 3 of these pinkXwhite cases, one for each pair of lens I had bought, absolutely free from Exclusive Lens, I really like them, because I can see which ever lens are inside each case because they're see-through, so no need for me to guess which lens are in which case.

I've been using my Max Pure Browns as a replacement for my daily disposables, these lens are really thin, so I don't feel them at all in my eye, however as compared to my dailies, they have more protein build-up and are abit dry, so I usually apply an eyedrop or 2 in the middle of the day. But other then that, I'm really happy I got them (though the Bf is still creeped out by them).

I'm planning to buy more brown lenses soon, hmm wonder which ones I should try next, maybe Honey Wings?

Oh yes, scroll down to see my reviews on the other 2 lenses I bought!

Green Circle Lens!!

For my most important cosplay of the year, I really wanted a pair of quality green lenses. So after reading about different type of lenses, I finally settled on DollyEye's green lenses. The lens are fairly comfortable and it's less problematic as compared to my blue ones, the lens don't swivel about when I blink which is a real plus for me (double pupils are waaay creepy) and I don't get the coloured edges in my line of sight unlike the blue ones.

The green is less obvious then my blue ones, on my pupils, but still enough to see the colour

Without flash, the green is only minimally obvious, but you can still see abit of colour difference from normal eyes.

With flash the colour is more obvious, but from far, the colour isn't as obvious, bit disappointed actually.

My only gripe is that the colour isn't as obvious as I would like it, but its fairly comfortable. I haven't worn it out for a full day yet, so I can't say just how comfortable it really is, but it's definitely thicker then my Max Pure Brown lens.

*edit* I tried this pair at work one day, and they were quite comfortable. I had a bit of blurriness and some of the green colour blocking my line of sight at times, but abit of blinking and a drop or two of eyedrops fixed it. I even had a customer comment on how much she liked my lens! Yay!

Blue Circle lens!

For most of my cosplay characters, I needed blue lenses to get the look right, so after researching different coloured lens, I decided to get the DollyEye Blue lens, because not only is it one of the lesn with more obvious colour effect, but at 14.2mm wide, it also enlarges the eye, perfect for achieving the anime look.

Comparison of the lens, you can see, the blue isn't affected by the dark colour of my eye and that there is some enlargement

Here, I'm wearing the lens in both my eyes, but with zero flash, there's still some blueness

Now with flash, as you can see, the blue is very obvious and the best part is that the colour eliminates the redness of my eyes, I really like the colour of this pair of lenses

My only gripe with this particular pair of lens is that it swivels about when I blink, resulting in havign 2 pupils at times, which is really creepy. I haven't actually worn this pair out for the day before so I can't say whether it's extrememly comfortable or not, but it is certainly thicker than my Max Pure Browns and sometimes, I see the edges of blue in my line of sight. Not to mention, I have abit of an "alien" look when I wear this as it doesn't look natural at all.
For daily wear, maybe this isn't such a good idea, but for cosplay, it's good enough.
