Being Touristy

Globe-trotting gyaru, Kayo, was back in town for a week or so a few months back. it was fun being a tour guide and showing her around town like before, though it was more of a shopping/ sight seeing trip this time, unlike the food driven trip last time.

Started the day with brunch a la Singapore style:
Half boiled eggs mixed with dark soy sauce and white pepper, Kaya (coconut jam) and butter toast with strong coffee

It was amusing to hear Kayo comparing the eggs to Japan's onsen eggs, and she loved the strong coffee.

After that, we headed to Haji Lane, as she had read up about it online.

Tourist shot! My face looks really weird here

Steph's tattoo artist, Kevin, helped to take this picture after we popped by his store to cool off due to the intense heat.
My outfit consisted of:
Inner shirt: Uniqlo
Lace Nightie: Taobao
Shorts: Lowry's Farm
Stockings: taobao
Denim Jacket: Calvin Klein
Badge: taobao
Shoes: Random shop in Holland Village
Hair clips: Sasa

Final shot before Steph had to leave for the day

It was fun catching up with Kayo again and hopefully, I'll get a chance to head to Japan and she'll be my tour guide the next time we meet.

Snip Snip!

Sometimes I get utterly terrible days plagued with terrible situations, and sometimes, I randomly get the most amazing luck to counter-balance the bad.

I was having a rough day at work when I decided to meet the Bf on a whim, was browsing at the nearby Kinokuniya shop when I was spotted by Tomoko. That was how I became an accidental hair model/ willing victim for Tomoko to practise her hairdressing skills on. It was only much later did I realise she worked for the amazing hair salon, Kizuki+LIM.

After letting her go wild on my hair, I walked out feeling happier than most other salons I've been to, and with great hair that has lasted. Unfortunately, I didn't take many pics of the place, and though I wasn't asked to review the salon, I enjoyed myself so much that I just gotta write about it!

I got lost finding the salon, but that's probably because I hardly ever explore Raffles Hotel without good reason
(Pic from : http://haze-lk.blogspot.sg/2013/10/throwback-on-me-and-my-friends-haircut.html)

Super cool architecture! Different areas of the salon were separated by these geometric shaped "walls"/ pathways
(Pic from: http://www.designboom.com/architecture/teruhiro-yanagihara-kizuki-lim-salon-singapore/)

Their reception counter and the place where they stowed my bag before my haircut
(Pic from: http://singapooo.exblog.jp/16793515)

Their washing area with super comfortable automated reclining seats. It's really great for me as due to my short stature, I usually end up shuffling myself awkwardly on those flat chairs for my head to reach the sink. With these chairs, I no longer need to look like a earthworm on drugs and am able to maintain my dignity
(Pic from: http://jrunway.com/great-experience-at-kizuki-lim-salon/)

The area where I got my hair cut and styled. The chairs are movable and so is the wall, allowing the staff to play around with the floor space depending on their clients

Waiting for my haircut! As you can see, my hair looked rather heavy and old-fashioned with the thick, grown out perm.

Haircut after I reached home and being pummelled by strong winds. Still looked good!

Managed to take a pic with the lovely Tomoko! Thank you so much for the haircut!

My hair has remained rather low maintenance and looks good styled or not and even looks decent if I go to bed with my hair still wet from my shower. People have been complimenting my haircut and even the Bf says it looks good, which is rare since he hardly mentions much bout my hairstyles.

Will definitely return, as a paying customer the next time.

On a side note, I left my last job. Things weren't working out so I'm looking for another. It sucks quite abit and I'm hoping my next job will work out, but at least the experience has helped me open potential new career options. Lets see how things go in the future I guess.

Museum Trip & Craziness

I finally got to meet my best friend 4eva and ever and ever Steph  today, with our work schedules and other hobbies it's been difficult to meet up. I really missed the honest heart-to-heart talks we always have and her hilarious descriptions of things.

Camwhore with her is always a must!! Though not quite sure why she's pulling a face here LOL

Decided to wear my wig as I'm tired if having normal brown hair, a must for the coporate world ugh! So thought I'd spice things up abit.

Outfit:
Cropped shirt: Candy Stripper
PVC shorts: Salvation Army
studded thigh high socks: Taobao
Velvet flatforms: Taobao
Beanie: Maison Gilfy
Winged backpack: Glad News
Choker: Hellcat Punks
Circle sunglasses: Taobao

We went to have a look at the small but interesting Red Dot Design Museum, saw many may weird and funny things there and the best part bout it was how we were allowed to take pictures and poke and prod pretty much everything on display.

I really really liked this light display but they could have used bulbs with lower wattage, the brightness killed my eyes

Stpeh was seduced by the pretty lights... nooo!! Steph!!! Move away from the light!!!

Played around with this award-winning urinal

Steph said with her red pants, she looked like she was pissing fire hahahahah

Super comfy bed to lie on, so I took a cat nap.. LOL not really, it was placed vertically against the wall

Steph trying to nap only to look like a corpse in rigor mortis hahhahahaah

National geographic documentary in session: "Observe as the foetus rests within the comforts of the mother's womb" ROFL!!! But the tub was awesome, sooo massive!!! Wish I could install it in my home

Steph being all gangsta and shit, just missin the hundred dollar bills within the tub

Saw these and all I could think of was how much they looked like the Kyojins in the latest anime Shingeki no Kyojin
I was so so so interested in this!! It's a small automatic button sewer!! Like seriously how convenient and cool is that?!!

After going nuts and playing with all the exhibits, we took a walk around the area. Lots of cool shophouses with art studios, architect studios, bars, restaurants etc. Though most were closed

Met this friendly "lady", Steph decided to take her out for a date
Luckily the "lady" didn't want to leave me behind!

Finally got a chance to try out Hoshino Coffee!

Had baked curry rice, sooo good!!!! Though I wish the broccoli florets were alittle bigger.

at Hoshino Coffee, you MUST try their famous souffle pancakes. I ordered the normal version, which was served with maple syrup and whipped cream cheese. It had the light texture of a sponge cake but the maple syrup reminded me too much of Mcdonalds, shall try it with honey next time.

It sucks to be working, the weekends fly by in the blink of an eye and the next moment, it's back to the grind. Ugh!

Recent Clothes, Shoes & Accessories Haul

In my quest to change my wardrobe, I've been doing plenty of shopping lately. I've kind of split my wardrobe into 3 sections so far, office, casual & dress-up. Dress-up is more of my cult party kind of influenced look as it's been the most inspiring to me thus far. Lets take a look at what I got so far:

Patent leather pumps with patent leather and metal ribbon detailing on the front. From Itti & Otto, these shoes weren't cheap at $89.90 but I snagged them at a 15% off sale so only got them for $76++! These are my investment shoes for the office and they've been worth every cent so far, as they're super comfy and look great

Taobao haul consisting of pink streaked wig, creepers, two cross necklaces, circular sunglasses, velvet hair band and velvet choker

Was surprised that the choker has the word "Alice" engraved on it, i had assumed it was gonna be a plain pendant

Also grabbed these Grimoire verum inspired stockings

After searching like crazy, I managed to hunt down this special RinkaXSweet shirt that Rinka had sold to gather funds for the flood victims, I didn't manage to get my hands on it earlier as it sold out almost instantly but now, it's finally in my hands! Though my larger bust size doesn't quite agree with it as much as I would like it to. Also bought a Lowry's Farm pleated maxi skirt

One of my favourite buys, this lovely Jouetie baseball jacket, made with a silky satin material. It's surprisingly warm but fits me so well.

LOL check out the Engrish

After intensively trawling the Internet, I finally got my hands on these babies. The Jeffrey Campbell Skate shoes.

Just look at the amazing wooden carved heel!! I feel like I'm wearing an elegant scupture on my feet and it's more stable then I had expected. I'm trying to convince Steph to get a black pair so that we can be shoe twins!

In case anyone's wondering how the wig looks like, this was the picture shown on the website. It's actually inspired by Amo's pink hair and it reminds me of my old faded pink hair that I love so much

Last but not least, a lace dress that will probably be the main skeleton for my new look and a purple cardigan, both from Cotton On. The dress was on sale from $39.90 to $19.90, score!!

I'm already feeling excited to try out some outfits I have in mind but I'll probably buy a few more accessories to spice things up, I really want a few rosettes and I might get a bag too. Hopefully my new look will go the way I hope it will because I'm starting to feel excited and inspired about fashion once again, a feeling that I thought I had lost awhile back. So hope my dear readers are excited to see my new outfits

Meet Up with Steph

Had a bad day at work last Friday, so bad that I was kinda miffed bout it through the whole weekend, though I know holding onto such negative emotions does nothing but bad things to you. So I asked Steph out just to chill and shop abit to get my mind off things.

I decided to doll up too, so that I'll put my mind into a good vibe. It certainly worked because I felt like my old self once more after my makeup and hair was done.

After make and hair. Steph says my hair is fine but I just felt like it wasn't as good as how I used to do it, perhaps its the way I curled or I'm due for a haircut pretty soon.

 Outfit:
Dress: Bought in Macau
Military jacket: Topshop
Stockings: I've forgotten
Beret: Accessorize
Shoes: Gal Star
Bag: Snidel

We went to JRunway because despite being open for so long, and me being into Japanese fashion, I've yet to set foot into that store. It's pretty cool since they had brands like Emoda, Algonquins, Spiral Girl etc.

Found these d.i.a. style shorts on a rack, they were so tacky with the buckles that they actually looked good ROFL. Steph tried and eventually bought the  black version while I tried the blue version. I qite liked it but at $75, its kinda steep especially when I'm not so much into the hardcore d.i.a. style

Bought this Mystic cardigan. It was placed along the sales rack so its a steal compared to its previous price. The wool is alittle rough but I like the fit and considering my size, I find it difficult to find good wool and knit cardigans that fit my frame.

Bought these rings too. I'm in love with the vintage style one on the left. My tastes have been geared more towards a much softer feminine style lately. The stacked rings on the right were really pretty and I like how they can be stacked together for a more dramatic look or worn seperately. Sadly one of the diamante on the stacked rings has dropped off, so I brought it back to be exchanged.
I chose this 3-way hair accessory in its place. All 3 can be worn together as they're linked by the chain, or be worn separately with the chain becoming a really cute bracelet.

Loved the details on the back of Steph's blazer. The pleats are such a cute addition

It started to pour heavily after wandering around JRunway, so we explored the new section of Plaza Singapura. We stumbled upon Tally Weijl , a high street brand popular with alot of Swedish bloggers. They had some cool stuff, so I may return to check it out once again.

Took this picture of us while we were waiting for our dinner and the Bf to arrive

It was also the first time that Steph and the Bf met each other in real life despite chatting online at times. It was interesting to watch them talk non-stop about games especially Nintendo stuffs.

The week is certainly flying by rather fast. I hope 2013 will be a better year for me especially on the job front. In the mean time, Merry Christmas to all my readers!

Francfranc's Christmas Event

Initially wrote this post using d blogger app for iphone, but the layout felt so foreign to me, I ended up switching back to my laptop

Attended the Francfranc Christmas event last Friday. It wasn't that big an event, just to launch their latest Christmas & Cruise collection.

Steph & I ended up poking & prodding alot of things along the way. It was fun despite the band butchering some of our favourite songs as they played in the background.

I wore a dolly Kei influenced outfit as I felt that it suited Francfranc's style better

Steph kept commenting bout how hip hop style this sofa was & how she wished she could shove it into her house!

I loved this quirky chest of drawers. The irregular shapes make it so cute and fun looking, thought the real appeal were the door knobs. I found out later that the knobs were sold seperately :(

This chair is more my style LOL

Bought this phone cover to replace my current one which is kinda discoloured now

Received a goodie bag because of my purchase. Inside was a plastic Lowry's Farm bag (perfect for cosplay events/shoots), a guide to the Cruise collection, a slim mug and a voucher for future purchases.

Outfit for the night:
Dress: Ice Lemon Tee
Belt: Taobao
Fur stole: Uniqlo
"Bird Brain" Bag: Vintage Enid Collins
Oxfords: Rockport
Stockings: Gift from Aunt (Clearer pic to be uploaded)
Necklace: Metropolitain Museum of Art (clearer pic to be uploaded)

Found a comfy sofa in the showroom to chill and chat abit during the event. I love Steph's Emoda knit top

Took some camwhore shots too

Here's some extra details that the pictures couldn't take of my outfit that day:

Pulled my hair back with this hair barrette that I had bought as a gift to myself from my first pay cheque.

Picture of the details on my stockings. It's the first time I've worn it since my aunt gave it to me as a gift like a year or so back

My necklace, unfortunately, I don't have the curtain tassle necklace that the Grimoire staff are well-known for wearing, neither do I have much vintage necklaces. This was the best option as it was a copied design by the Metropolitain Museum of Art from some necklace that dated back to the 18th century or something. The gold colour also matched the belt I was wearing.

I'll do a quick image post soon as a few thing have happened recently, namely, the EOY (End-Of-Year) cosplay event as well as finally managing to catch the Rorounin Kenshin live action movie before it stops running in cinemas.

I've got a few reveiw posts to do too, ugh!! Woes of a working life, too many things but too little time, lets hope I'll be able to churn out those posts ASAP!
