Compiled Update

Hey guys, sorry bout the lack of updates, just alot has been  going on for me mentally and emotionally. With me being unemployed and free at the moment, I took it as a much needed break/ holiday for the first week or so, but after that, doubts started plaguing me and my self worth and esteem has kinda plummeted especially when some negative things were said to me by my ex-boss.

I've been trying to keep myself busy to stave off the negative thoughts so I've been catching up with friends and stuff. Here's a lightning post on what's been happening in my life lately:

Attended Mini's 21st birthday party. Here she is cosplaying as her favourite character Kotetsu (from the anime, Tiger & Bunny) and posing with her cake made in his comic likeness. I attended dressed as Crista Lenz/ Historia Reiss from the series Shingeki no Kyojin/ Attack on Titan but didn't really take a pic.

Also attended Skippy's birthday and had a blast drinking beer, getting stupid and playing truth or dare while almost everyone was half wasted. The silly antics we did were really fun.
Shirt: Emoda
Skirt: Bought in KL
Thigh high socks: Cosmode
Choker: Taobao

Went to the premiere of The Wind Rises and a few of us in the group decided to dress up as Studio Ghibli characters. I did another wardrobe/ ghetto cosplay of Kiki with a blue dress I dug out from my wardrobe this time.
Dress from Nichii
The movie was really nice, and really evoked alot of emotions. Definitely a fitting end to Hayao Miyazaki's amazing career.

Watched an Indie film with my mom called, Size Does Matters. It's quite a cute show.
Dress: Jouetie
Jewelled hairband: Osewaya
Stockings: Taobao

Accompanied Steph when she got another tattoo, this time of her other cat on the other thigh. Felt like dressing up abit that day though I did mostly window shopping on my own.
Dress: Topshop
Inner blue shirt with white polka dots: Uniqlo
Belt: Taobao
Beret: Accessorize
Round framed spectacles: Taobao
Badge: Katie

The final product! Now she has both her beloved cats' portraits on her.

A friend of mine wanted to explore cafes, so we went to a pie specialty cafe called, Windowsill in the Woods. It's really popular among the local hipster crowd but their pies are definitely worth it. Threw a jumble of clothes on and somehow they fitted together hahah.
Inner striped Turtleneck: Uniqlo
Shirt: Candy Stripper
Mullet skirt: Bought in KL
Red bowler hat: Can't remember
Round framed spectacles: Taobao
Shoes: The Salvation Army

Since I have time on my hands now, I decided to start on a healthier diet. So I've been whipping up alot of home-cooked meals whenever I can. I cook mostly salmon, white fish and chicken with lots of vegetables and very little carbohydrates.
So far, my stomach has become less bloated and I definitely feel more energised and my skin has become alot clearer now. Hopefully I can continue whipping up healthier meals when I get a new job.

I also took the opportunity to clear out and streamline my wardrobe, so my wardrobe is less cluttered now. I'm getting round to cleaning my room and updating it as I've had the same posters stuck on my room walls since I was a teenager. Man I feel so old knowing I'm in my twenties now and I still have posters on old anime stuck on my walls. I've been looking at Tumblr for inspiration but since I can't exactly change the layout of my room and my furniture, I'm left with just sprucing up my walls and neatening everything out. let's see how I can make the best of it.

Happy Chinese New Year!!

Hey guys! Wanna wish all of you a Happy Chinese New Year!! Or Happy Lunar New Year!!

Found this lovely art on Tumblr celebrating the year of the Horse. Couldn't trace the original source though :(

Unfortunately, my favourite uncle from my dad's side passed away the week before, so I was pretty upset and mildly depressed as his passing really took me by surprise and hit me extremely hard. I also felt letdown by some of my closest friends so it took a toll on me emotionally. With the passing of a family member so close to the Lunar New Year, traditionally I'm not allowed to participate the festivities, so I couldn't go house visiting and stuff as superstition dictated that I may bring bad luck to the houses I visit. Felt kinda bummed out by the whole thing so I've been going out quite a fair bit to stop myself from wallowing in misery, so get ready for the barrage of outfit shots!

Went out with my mom and sis on the first day of the new year to watch the movie, Her. Quite interesting and I love Scarlett Johanssen's voice.
Outfit:
Lace Dress: Cotton On
Jacket: Jouetie
Bag: Nadia
Corsage (on bag): Katie
Platform sneakers: Taobao
Silver circle glasses: Taobao

Visited my uncle's place (bro of my passed on uncle so the superstition doesn't apply) and played with his cute dogs and met some aunts on my dad's side. They still gave me red packets despite the superstition saying I shouldn't ask for them as they used the loophole that they're giving it to me before I asked for them LOL.
Outfit:
Dress: Ehyphen Gallery X Amo
Necklace: Osewaya
Butterfly hair clip: Stall at Comic Fiesta

Visited my maternal grandparents' graves and then explored a shopping mall with my parents in the evening. The beanie makes my hair look like those shaggy dos that emo kids adore.
Outfit:
My Little Pony Shirt: Stall at cosplay event
Polka dot shorts: Gift from Steph
Cardigan: Cotton On
Large Badge: Katie
Necklace: Taobao
Beanie: Maison Gilfy

Met the bf today for a date out. We explored a fairly new mall and then watched Robocop. The movie was alright, lots of action but I felt it could have been better. Ended the night with a Chili's ribs dinner while watching an ice hockey game happening at the ice rink right in front of the restaurant. I also wore red lips again after so long. I also tied my hair into tiny twin tails to kinda celebrate Twin Tails Day in Japan, though I'm a day late as the actual celebration day is on 2nd Feb because 02/02 looks like the side profile of a face with twin ponytails
Outfit:
Leopard Beret: Accessorize
Shirt: Candy Stripper
Shorts: Unif
Dolfie joints Stockings: Bought from friend
Badges on Beret: Free gifts from taobao
Necklace: borrowed from Mom

I'm lucky that my workplace has given me a week off to celebrate the New Year so besides catching up with family, the bf and friends, I'm hoping to clean up my pig sty of a room and also progress bait more on my 3D Maneuver Gear. If I do complete it, perhaps I'll post a instruction post on how I made mine, though there are plenty of DIY instructions on making your own 3D gears already out there on the net. I'll see how it goes I guess... till next time! Have a happy horse year!

Happy 2014

Wishing all my beloved readers a Happy New Year!!!

Alittle Doctor Who cheer for you guys and this quote is so apt:
Eleven's Hour is Over Now, the Clock is Striking Twelve's”

Had a family dinner just now after dragging myself outta bed despite suffering from the flu, so here's a quick outfit shot. No facial pics as I just slapped on some foundation and blush and was out the door.
Dress: Katie
Floral laced socks: Daiso
Black oxfords: Rockport
(Hearts to hide the messiness in my room /A\)

Will update soon bout some new posts such as my experience at Comic Fiesta and Baby Metal Concert. In the meantime, have a great new year guys. I'll just be here coughing and praying I get well enough for my shoot tomorrow.

Birthday Celebration: Day 3 (Boyfriend's Date)

Last post about my birthday, sorry that it dragged so long.

On my actual birthday, I took leave from work and spent some quality time with the bf. We didn't do anything too fancy, just a day out together. It doesn't sound like much but it means a lot especially when I'm mostly too tired to bother to dress up and go out lately.

Wore this Dolly kei inspired outfit:
Inner shirt: Uniqlo
Lace Corset: 2nd hand from mom
Skirt: Snidel
Shawl: Borrowed from mom
Bag: Borrowed from mom
Shoes: Itti & Otto

Makeup was light with Dollywink No. 2 lashes and only mascara on my bottom lashes. Basic contouring was done and blush was applied just below my eyes.

We shopped abit before catching the movie Despicable Me 2 and had dinner at our favourite Japanese eatery.

Saw this sign on a display piece at Franc Franc, so funny!

The bf was pretty happy with the gift I got for him from Cosfest. It's a cat from the Monster Hunter game and for a home made toy, it's done exceedingly well! The body and tail can be bent to fit snuggly on your shoulder and attached by a pin on its belly.

Got some gifts from the bf too, he's always surprising me on my birthday, but he always gives me a clue to what he gets for me and I'm usually able to figure out from the clue hahah

Mawaru Penguindrum artbook!

It's so beautiful! I love the sketches and looking at how much planning it took for all the poses, there are at least 3-4 sketches with just minor differences in the hands and angling in a lot of scenes from the opening song and the Princess of the Crystal's entrance. It reminds me cosplay, where such minor details also affect the overall look and feel you get from a photo

He also got me a Princess of the Crystal nendroid. She's accompanying me at work now and yells at me to stop slacking off and get work done!

I had a really great time during my birthday this year and I'd just like to thank everyone who sent a birthday wish.

In the mean time, work has been getting more intense, I almost feel like I'm at a breaking point, but I'm telling myself to just ride it out, get tougher and learn from it. So apologies if I don't update as often as I'd like to, I'm just usually too tired to muster up the brain power to write a post. I do have some posts lined up, so I'll definitely get them out as soon as I can.

Birthday Celebration: Day 2 (Spa & Family)

The 2nd day of my birthday celebrations was with my family, my mom took me out for some shopping and a day at the spa for a total body massage, I needed it bad as my body has been aching and gone stiff lately.

Barely any makeup on, I only used the BB cream and mascara that Steph gave, didn't wanna waste time doing full makeup since is was definitely gonna be washed away during the spa session

Super comfortable outfit:
90's style My Little Pony t-shirt: Cosplay event booth
Polka dotted shorts: Part of the birthday gift collection from Steph
Pink cross necklace: Taobao
Black lambskin shoes: Chanel

At the spa, we enjoyed a session in the sauna, followed by a soak in the bubble bath before getting full body massages. The bubble bath was crazy full of bubbles, they were so high, you could literally disappear in them! See the black blob in the pic? That's my mom's head, and she looks like she's being consumed by the bubbles. You can't even see where the tub is!

After the spa session, we did alittle more shopping around the area

I spotted this dress in a shop and after tryng it, I was in love! The cut and length made it conservative enough for the office, but the leather and metal stud detailing made it less serious, perfect as a weekend dress too! The price however, was bit too high for me, at $80++ I wasn't willing to splurge so much on it, but my mom offered to pay half for it, so I gladly took it home!

My sister's gift, I haven't read any good books in awhile but my sis really recommends this. Gonna use it with the bookmark she got me as a souvenir from her trip to Paris

We also had dinner at an amazing Japanese restaurant near home. But the food was so yummy that I forgot to take any pictures and just dived for it the moment the waitress set it down on the table. My dad says he'll help to pay half the cost for a new laptop for my birthday present as my present one is getting impatiently slow and wonky. I'm now trying to decide between continuing as a PC user or switch to Mac, hmmm, any opinions?

Personal Outfits (Happy Lunar New Year!)

Happy Lunar/ Chinese New Year everyone!! This year is the year of the Snake, my zodiac year hahaha so you know exactly how old I am if you understand the zodiac calender. I don't fully believe in all those fortune predictions and stuff but well, seems like my luck and fortune will only improve in the second half of the year, oh well :/

Celebrated the first day of the lunar new year with my Mom's relatives, and as per tradition I wore a new dress:

Dress: Snidel

Had a bad hair day but I couldn't really care less, wore simple makeup with only basic top lashes and also wore flats LOL probably the most relaxed New year outfit I've had on for awhile.
Necklace: Osewaya

Came home to change into something more relaxed for the late dinner/BBQ:

T-shirt: Tiger & Bunny X Uniqlo Collab
Shorts: Uniqlo
Tied my hair up into a simple high ponytail
Scrunchie: Franc Franc

Met the bf for our early Valentine's day dinner today since he'll be working on the day itself

Knit top: Uniqlo
PVC shorts: Salvation Army
Stockings: Can't remember
Scarf: borrowed from Mom
Even simpler makeup today with no lashes, just mascara and I used peach blush instead

The only reason why single people tolerate with nosy relatives year after year LOL I jest.

Sorry if my blog is getting kinda boring now, I'm in the midst of trying to rebuild my wardrobe to head towards more of the style I'm trying to head to.

Gotta sign off now, I'm going fishing with my sis and dad tomorrow and we have to get up early to get prime fishing spots so till next time!

Happy 2013 to All

A belated Happy New Year greetings to all my dear readers! I know my blog has shifted alot from how it first started but I'm still grateful for all of you who continue to read about the random and weird things that happen in my life.

Here's a Pusheen new year greetings to you guys:

Too cute!

For my readers who are more into anime/Vocaloids or simply enjoy some eye candy, I found this picture on my Facebook just recently:

Kaito looks bishie as hell here, so does Len

This year was the first time I actually spent my new year's day with people outaside my family. Usually we just watch the countdown on TV then head to bed, nothing fancy or special, but I was invited to my friend's party and it was too enjoyable for me to bear to leave, so I wound up spending the night over and ushering the new year surrounded by lots of laughter, craziness and general merry-making.

Stole this picture from a friend haha. Can't remember what we were cheering for but whatever,,, it was fun

Picure of most of the people who attended the party... minus the birthday boy and some friends as they had gone bowling :( If you're wondering where I am, I'm the one in the red shirt with a gold pin in my fringe looking awful as hell after a day of work and sans makeup. Don't judge!

It was certainly entertaining to be surrounded by hyperactive people flinging each other around and just laughing till my throat felt so sore. It was especially nice that everyone at the party was connected to cosplay in one way or another be it doing photography or a cosplayer.

I used to wonder if I was doing the right thing giving up gyaru fashion to cosplay but as the years go by and as I meet people and become friends with them, I've come to realise that cosplay is one aspect of my life I have no regrets about. I've never met a truer bunch of people who welcome others with open arms, of course there'll always be politics, bickering and gossip but it's one part of my life that refreshes my soul and always cheers me up no matter how much I suffer for it.

Oh gosh a light post ended up with me pouring my soul out damn! Sorry for digressing, so my dear readers, I just wanna wish you guys again a happy new year and hope lots of luck comes your way.

How did you celebrate New Year's day?

Christmas Celebration & Reflection for the New Year

Late post but then again better late then never right?

I had a quiet (okay not quite quiet when a gang of relatives invaded my home for the night) Chrsitmas eve dinner with relatives and we had a pot luck party with plenty of food to go around. Too much food actually, my fridge and freezer is still stuffed with leftovers that my sis and I are slowly trying to finish. We had roasted chicken, Black pepper & Honey herbs, honey baked ham, Bratswurst sausages, garlic bread, potato salad and 3 different desserts. No pictures because the table was a mess with everyone ravaging the food hahaha.

I did manage to take shots of 2 of our desserts before they were sliced up and served:

Bf's contribution to the potluck was the lovely cream tart. I still have 2 slices in my freezer, I love this company's fruit tart though it can be bit heavy sometimes

Stupid blogger is being stupid, refusing to turn my pic around. Anyway this is German Stollen, my aunt brough this as well as half a Carrot Walnut cake with cream cheese icing. It's my first time trying Stollen and its definitely better then fruit cake, I hate that stugg, but the preserved candied fruits still got to me after awhile, I'm just not fond of the taste.

In my childhood, Christmas day was spent with the relatives on my Dad's side of the family. However, ever since my paternal grandmother passed away, everyone has sorta gone their own paths, bit sad but nothing can be done I guess. My dad is also currently away due to work, so my sis, mom and I decided to watch Les Miserable!

 Our Tickets

The movie was amazingly great!! Hugh Jackman was stellar in his performance and I love Amanda Seyfried being cast as the sweet innocent daughter and her high voice totally suited the look for the role. Anne Hathaway was wonderful and it was brilliant to watch her character fall from grace on screen, and I love how hilarious Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter were as the antagonists of the movie. I still hum their song "Master of the House" from time to time as their scene replays in my mind.

My mom wasn't impressed by Russell Crowe's singing, not that there's anything wrong with his performance, but when you compare his performance to the Broadway version, there is a significant difference, but then again, Broadway and film are different.

Anyone, on to the fun bit of Christmas, pressies!!!

Blogger being ridiculously stupid, shall just ignore. Anyway, here's some of the presents I received from family and friends, not everything is here as I couldn't fit all of them in. The bf bought me a mini vacuum that resembles a pokeball/Haro when not in use ROFL, and a pair of Necomimi (been eyeing it since forever!), My sis got me a picture book of Howl's Moving Castle (useful to ogle at the film's beauty without needing to play the movie), Steph got me an amazing Emoda top (so comfy & stylish) and cute nail polish and her mom surprised me with an amazing Christian Dior charm bracelet.

The nail polish set from Steph. It's supposed to be used to create checked patterns and the different colours can be mixed together to create new colours! Unfortunately clumsy me hasn't gotten the hang of it, but I do love the colours alot!

The beautiful Christian Dior charm bracelt that Steph's Mom surprised me with, I had been wanting a charm bracelet for a long time but I figured I'd might as well save up and get a Tiffany or a Thomas Sabo version, but now I don't need to! I love how the charms look like little presents, too cute!

Here's a picture of me playing with my Necomimis before my relatives came. It's so fun to watch feel it swivel around though its near impossible to really control their actions. It took awhile before I could get this shot of the ears on alert mode, as they kept swivelling around or drooping down into relaxed mode. My mom and sis were quite amused by it, though Dusky couldn't care less. Funny because I thought he would freak, but maybe he's finally gotten used to the fact that he has a weirdo for an owner hahah.

Tomorrow's the last day of 2012, it's been a great year though alot of crap has happened lately, but still I'm grateful. I graduated, got a job I somewhat enjoy, attended nearly all cosplay events and made so many new cosplay friends as well as getting to know some of the cosplay elites that I had always admired from afar, became closer to some friends and went overseas with one of the best friends I'd ever known. It's had its fair share of ups and downs so here's to wishing to a better year ahead.

I'll be attending an office party on new year's eve before making my way to a Kenneth's belated birthday/New year party. It'll be the first time I won't be celebrating the new year with my family but since I'll be surrounded by great friends from a hobby I love, it'll be a great start to the new year.

How will you be celebrating your new year?  In th mean time wishing everyone a Happy New Year!

Waseda Shibuya Seiransai 2012 - Time Warp Nippon

Once again, major apologies for the really late post. It's been a real tiring week so far, every time I'm about to sit down and blog something comes up or I'm so tired out from the day's events that I just can't spare anymore energy to think and type. Anyway, today's entry is about last week's Seiransai at the local Japanese high school called Waseda Shibuya.

The theme this year was Time Warp Nippon so there were alot of cultural and hostorical references, though of course some classes didn't really stick to the theme haha!! It's also my first ever year attending the event as something always cropped up for the past 2 years. I accompanied Joshua and Kenneth to the event as they are seasoned pros and know what's good!

The joyful decor all around the school

Snapped this cute little lantern as I was in the queue for the haunted house. The haunted house is like one of the must-see events and there were actually 2 different ones this year!

Tried out their school uniform, I really don't know how they can last all day with the thick shirts and knee high black socks, some girls were even wearing their school cardigans! I tried out with the blazer in the air-conditioned classroom and even then, I was dying from the heat.

Maid Cafe, another must-see attraction! Their mascot is Totora not Totoro hahaha!!

The maid cafe, notice the stained glass and brick wall decor? Everything was stuck on individually by them, the windows and walls are usually plain. It's amazing how hardworking and detailed they are in making the place look great.

Table decor and another Totora

Ordered Steamed green tea cake and coffee jelly. The cake was subtle and light, would be nice with a pot of floral tea, while the jelly was insanely strong!! It was eating espresso jelly and the cream on top did little to help mask the bitterness.

Our dorayaki came alittle later as I think the kitchen was having a shortage of them. These are the bes dorayakis I have ever eaten! They were warm from the pan and light and fluffy with a thin layer of smooth red bean paste. I was in foodie heaven as I savoured these little things.

The school flag, reminds me alot of the Final Fantasy Type-0 school flag

Their school crest and I think their mascot?

Super casual outfit (sorry was having a bad face day)):
Top: Uniqlo
Shorts: Uniqlo
Bag: Jimmy Choo
Hair clip: Tangs

The best camwhore pic I could come up with that day, somehow my makeup just didn't look right and funny enough, I look fine when I clip my fringe back that way in real life, but in pictures I just look like my face had a botched face lift or something eugh!

The event was really fun, I took part in alot of their activities such as watching their version of the Hana Yori Dango story, playing games and with help from Joshua, managed to converse with some of the students there. It was nice to see the girls wearing yukatas and looking all dolled up while the guys ran around screaming and trying to promote their class's stall. The whole atmosphere was buzzing with excitement and innocent fun, it's definitely an event I plan to attend again!
